I don't think Henry had any other way to work it. Let's check the facts :
1. We pay 22M for Souraz. Hoping to play him AND Torres.
2. Torres still wants to leave. Chelski offering 50M for him.
At this point, we didn't have any other option. SELL HIM!
wheat else could we do? keep a players that wants to leave, and for the last
two years looks already like a shadow of the player he once been...
Only thing you can do is SELL!
3. you have no 28M net from the Souraz - Torres swap. you NEED
a striker. you need to do a move to keep the fans happy. To keep
Liverpool a team that aims at the top, so Pepe and Steve don't demend to leave.
4. Best striker you can get is Carrol. Newcastle wants 35M. you KNOW it is
overpriced, but what can you do? You still have 28M left from the Torres sell.
So Henry makes the move. He hates it, but it is the better of two bad options.
What would you all say if we didn't sign a striker and just had Souarez?
So the bottom line : we got rid of Torres and got BOTH Sourez and Carrol
for a net of 7M or so... IMHO, not a bad deal at all!
And yes, 35M for Carrol is WAY too much, but also 50M for Torres is WAY too much.
And at the end of the day, we got a better team for a small amount of money.
