12.7 Million for Suarez, no wonder they told us to fook off....and i hope to god we didnt need to sell babel for 5 million quid to put towards funds for Suarez, weve been told that if the player is right, the money is there, we have 0 debt FFS and cant even stump up 20m?

Dutch club Ajax have told Liverpool to come up with a "respectful" offer for their Uruguay striker Luis Suarez.

Liverpool have made a £12.7m bid for the 23-year-old and the Reds' director of football strategy Damien Comolli travelled to Amsterdam on Monday.

"We'll have to wait for them to come back with something more respectful," an Ajax spokesman told BBC Sport.
"We want to keep him - at least until the end of the season and preferably for the rest of his contract."

Tbh 12.7 for Suarez in today's market is quite insulting.

This could all be spin from Ajax to show their fans they are fighting for him.

They could have conveniently forgotten to mention that it was (as an example) £12.7m  (about 15m euro) plus Babel, which to me is a decent offer.

Anyway, with Babel going now, after only this morning being said to be staying, something has happened today.

So perhaps now the Babel cash is to form part of whatever offer we now make for Suarez, or indeed for an alternative striker.

I hope that we don't rush to get a striker.  It might be better to wait till summer and try again with Suarez than to move quickly and get someone like Cole.

Liverpool havent given up hope in signing Suarez

when Liverpool where in Amsterdam yesterday they heard the huge asking price that Ajax want for the player, 30 million euros Ajax made it clear their star player will not be leaving just like that.
The player has said to have become irritated but remains professional, how long will he remain professional is anyones guess?  Suarez knows Liverpool didnt travel to Amsterdam for nothing and that he knows Ajax are prepared to sell him he also knows Liverpool would not have bothered travelling to Holland for the 30 million euros Ajax have slapped on his head.

The fact that Ajax held talks with Liverpool yesterday suggests a deal will be made, Liverpool must wait until tommorrow night for Ajax's director Van den Boog to come back from South Africa, Suarez has five days to force the deal by handing in a transfer request, but has been put under pressure by Ajax wanting him to forget about any departure as they want to win the Championship, Suarez doesnt see it that way because they let Urby Emanuelson leave for AC Milan.

Sounds like we are miles off Ajax's valuation and we don't have a lot of time to negotiate.

Going, staying, going ...  here's hoping the Suarez deal is close now.  I know he's a got a vicious streak in him but he's a pretty special player and should make a massive difference to our attack options.  Massive.

ethanr wrote:It's good to see that we aren't falling into their demands, but at the same time I am starting to feel a bit bad about the situations of both Adam and Suarez.  Like Holloway said, Liverpool do things the Liverpool way, with respect.  If those two bids are correct, then 12.7 for Suarez and 4 for Adam aren't exactly the most respectable bids.  For Adam, it's hard to say I suppose, but for Suarez we could have offered more.  I'm not saying it's a bad thing we've offered so low, but I do hope that our owners and Comolli realize that these players are worth a bit more than we are offering.

I'd say I'd be willing to go up to around 20 for Suarez and maybe 9 for Adam.  10 if he plays an incredible match against manure.

Y'know what?  I wish I was selling a car or a house to a lot of you lot.  You talk as if there's just bags of unlimited cash sitting around Anfield, waiting to be spent!!  What's all this "I'd be willing to go to X million pounds for this player and Y million for that one" craap?  What are you?  14?  It's just as well nobody at Liverpool Football Club will ever need your help on buying players.  These people are in NEGOTIATIONS.  You want them to just pay whatever price get's plucked out of thin air?  Moron.

The club is undergoing huge change.  We hope (and, I believe) for the better.  Buying top players and players with potential is a delicate negotiation process.  We don't want to be ripped off.  The market value for a lot of these players can be skewed way off by other clubs recognizing our need for quality in the side and the short-term time constraint on this window.

And, FFS, give the scouts and people like Comolli a CHANCE. Football is a business and not one that's always easy to get right - but then I suppose you'd solve everything in a matter of weeks! That other poster is right about you.  You're a miserable, joyless fecker who jumps on everyone's back first chance.  Sure - we all got frustrated during Roy's 'reign' but buck up a bit fella.  We're moving in the right direction.  At the very least, wait til Feb 1st before you hang the entire scouting and management staff.

And i'm not blaming the manager ,he should be the one making the decision but he must be given choices and i'm afraid for years now ,no real quality options are being tracked. And i'm not talking of big heavy star quality names ,their is a lot of space to make moves for rough diamonds which aren't recognized yet for players playing in unknown european or other leagues. But there is a need for a network of scouters which is being sourly missed in our club.

You need to go and ask your GP for Prozac. You are one miserable fucker aren't you?

If it's not slating players after notching up our first win in however many games. It's panning the staff for not meeting your pointless transfer expectations.

Most sensible fans realise the season is over and that relegation is highly improbable now. So what's the fuss?

Apologies Ethanr - this is the guy I agree with SouthCoast is a miserable fecker.  Clicked the wrong quote.  Having said that, you don't know what your talking about plucking numbers out of thin air for us to pay out for these players.  £10m for Adam is nonsense at this stage of his career and with his valuation next to nothing come summer.

he scored 4 goals in the world cup which aint so shabby

but apart from that you can only base his form on dutch league, which we all know isnt a great indicator of how good someone is.

It is imperitive that we sign a goal scorer asap, babel, gone, Jovanovich (I know he hasnt played much like ) but will get the odd goal in the Europa League, and Ngog is not the answer either, if Torres gets injured we have had it as far as our league position goes. 1st signing must be a striker and time is running out.

I wouldnt even be @rsed not playing in the EL next season the thursday games, to many worthless games, and no excitement really.

we need to finish as high as we can this season, and pull out all the stops for next seasons campaign this season has been a complete write off because of Twit & Tw@t and Roy.

We need to add atleast 3 players before the window shuts and invest heavy in the summer and with the King at the helm we can achieve anything !!!
