In january window - Where do we strengthen?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Masch was a great player but a one trick pony, we need a steady player with a bit of grunt who can tackle, pass and just float around in the middle doing the simple things, just holding the team together. A bit like the manc boy, this would allow the likes of gerrard and perhaps Meireles to do their stuff.

Poulsen might have been able to do this once, I like Lucas but I'm not really sure what is his game is. I don't think Spearing will ever make it and Shelvey is still a bit young. Charlie could be just what we need.

If we could also get Suarez and a decent winger who can take people on and has the presence of mind to link up with Torres and Suarez and Stevie and Meireles coming forward we could really fly.

I think we have enough decent centre backs, they just need a bit of time to fit into the new system. Kelly has been fantastic on the right and will provide a real wake up call to Johnno and healthy competition on the right. Konchesky isn't as bad as people make out but things haven't really worked out and Aurellio is top class but a bit brittle so we need someone who can come in and do a job whenever called upon. Warnock might be okay for now.

If we could get this 4 in, ship out Koncheski and Babel, who I like but doesn't really fit in, we wouldn't be too far away.

Jovanovich could be given until the end of season as a backup left wing  and I'm still not sure where Cole fits in.

Fingers crossed, it could be a good January ?

Had to luagh when I read this in todays newspaper. Ian Holloway states that "Adam is worth £46mil, that is what the club would lose if they were relegated"   :D  :D  :D  What planet is he on. (Mars!). Some how, I don't think they'll be relegated this season.

They paid 500k for the lad so its good business for them no question but will leave a big hole in their side. Will go through sometime next week probably after United game at Gloomfield. Its an interesting one, Adam was a bit part player at Rangers but has blossomed under Holloway since moving South.

Well I was saying 6m would get him last week.
Maybe something like 5 rising to 6-6.5 depending on clauses.
He would definitely improve the squad IMO and would let us offload Poulson, he`d be on less wages too.
Would he count as home grown? If so it would also free up the squad a little so in terms of foreigners, we could then sign one worthy of the shirt.

He isn't getting a game at barca, I know his missus won't be happy with it but it might be worth a try?

I was only thinking that myself yesterday, I think he would come back too.

He left because he and his family didnt like it here. Cant see him coming back after a few months.

I dont want suarez

i think theres other positions that we need to strenghen first

a centre back, a left back, wingers who with pace and creativity

plus with torres regaining his form we dont need more goals, we need the wide men to chip in with goals, aswell as gerrard and morieles, wed have enough goals to win games

We need a new CB too, quite urgently id say. Although he's better than what we have Carra is passed his best and neither Agger or Skrtel are decent replacements for Sami.

Aye your right there bav. Looks like it might have to wait untill the summer though. We are not really being linked with any.

for me hangerlaand - fulhum....hes in the mould of hyypia, henchoz

should be a must signing, a big centre back whos positioning is good enough to play for a top club

Wouldnt have Mascherao back, he wanted to leave end of. Alonsos different i think he felt betrayed by Rafa and if Rafa had gone first i believe Alonso would still be here. You kno wjust by his comments he makes that he generally loves the club, i dont believe Msch ever did despite the way he played.

Holloway opening his gob again over Adam. He just cant keep it shut. We made an initial offer of £4m testing the waters and he kicks off. Amusingly he paid £500k for the player who was a bit part act at Rangers and has now played half a campaign in the Prem and gobshyte wants £14m when hes got only 18 months left on his contract. Blackpool never pay over the odds for anyone, they try and get every player for minimum money. They are as lean as a club gets so all this posturing is just bollox. I wouldnt go a penny over £6m.
