Another aquilani situation I see coming up. he'll probably become a world beater in Germany and end up at one of europe's top clubs within the next 5 years. To the person who can only remember one of his goals against manure: I can't remember any decent goal from kuyt but I do remember he contributed nothing against everton except taking a penalty he didn't win, ballooning at an open goal from 6 yards and consistently giving the ball away. Yet kuyt will no doubt be in the starting line up in every game until the end of the season.

Surprised we're selling just because we "may" be buying. Not as if we're making big money on him. Doesn't the Europa league campaign pick up again in feb? not the first player I'd hav got rid of (esp for 6m) ...wouldn't hav even been one of the first 5 for that price. Him, gerrard, torres and Johnson the only players capable of creating something out of nothing. At least Joe cole will get more game time now. You'll be happy about that won't you? An English lad.

Mate, this is totally different to the Aqua situation.  Aqua was a class act, you could see it in the few games he played.  Should never have been let go.

But Babel is useless.  A bit like Cisse, he has pace and a powerful shot but he has NO football brain whatsoever.  He couldn't get his head up and deliver a cross or a clever pass.  Half the time he played he didn't seem interested.

We now have had 3 managers that prefer Kuyt over Babel.  Add a couple of the Dutch teams managers and thats probably 5 professional football managers that rate him higher than Babel.  Kuyt has scored many important goals for this club.  I believe he scored in every round of the 2008/09 CL.

Huge promise but very little of that promise materialized.

There were always flashes of quality but they were few and far between. I remember watching his first goal for us against Derby after sublimely dummying two defenders and thinking what a great talent we had on our hands. Infact in that first season he showed great promise and nearly got double figures if I recall.

After that his memorably contributions were few and far between. Coming on and winning the penalty and scoring the fourth in the 4-2 CL game against Arsenal, an excellent display in the 4-0 demolition of Madrid and that belter away against Lyon are probably the most prominent ones.

I don't buy this notion that he didn't get enough chances either. You either have a footballibng brain or you don't. He clearly hasn't and doesn't have the mentality to hack it at a really big club. And don't give me this rubbish about how Wenger would have made him a superstar if he had gone to Arsenal. He'd have probably got rid of him because of his attitude aswell.

My thoughts exactly, do we have to sell to fund replacements? I am not saying Babel shouldnt go if we get a good offer for him but I am amazed at the lack of activity from us in the market. its not as if we have a strong squad and dont need anyone.

Never ever good enough for LFC, I wish him luck in the future though although I doubt we will hear much of him.

Bought for 11m, sold for anywhere between 5.8m and 7.5m according to who reports it....

Brilliant!!

Add on his wages since he joined and that is a tragic piece of business.  :(

It is pretty clear that (correctly) we are going to hear nothing from the club until any deals inwards are finalised, and I can only hope this deal facilitates a better player coming in.

I still wouldn't be surprised to see him go to Ajax, and if that means we sign a striker (suarez), then I'll be happy....as long as we then don't player the striker on the wing

I am clinging to the words from John Henry, "watch what we do, not what we say" to convince myself they have some signings up their sleeves.  with a full week without a game this week, it should give Kenny time to prepare the sqaud properly, and get involved in finalising transfers.

If we want to reduce the wage bill, then Poulsen and Konchesky get my vote (should never play for us again), and if Joe Cole can't be fit for more than one week in seven he can go as well.

don't be surprised if the move falls through..........it's not easy getting a comfy seat for £60,000 a week .

the thought of having to pull a shift for less money may be to much for the lad

and how the fuk do you know we aren't sorting new players out  right now as your tucking into your 'bombay badboy pot noodle'?

have a bit of patience, all will be revealed very soon.

As for Babel, resembled a chocolate raisin and played like a baffoon most of the time. little respect for him as he had very little respect for the club. an easy payday thats all we were.
