I think Agger is talked up by many redz because he's a ''modern'' centre-back. The new mould who's good on the deck and likes to bring the ball out from defence.

Personally I'd rather a Henchoz or Hyypia over the Dane anyday as it's all well and good doing the pretty stuff. But them boys are in that position to defend first and foremost, and defensively compared to Henchoz, Hyypia and Carra in his pomp there is no comparison for me. Also I'd take Samba, Hangerland or Turner over Agger personally, if I had too.

IF he was partnered with a proper defender like Samba or Hangerland THEN he might look the part more. But in a partnership, you need to stay fit and Agger's on the cusp of making Aquilani looking like bionic man, which defeats the purpose anyway.

Even though Jamie Carragher's game has declined in the last 18 months or so, he is still the best defender at this club, and at club the size  of Liverpool, that shouldn't be the case.[

Good post Kenny Kan, totally agree, injury prone and over-rated as a defender.

But that was the only comparison that I was making, that here was a guy the fans thought was the saviour. No insult there?  You've let yourself down there lad. Sounded a bit ciggy an that.

What was shearers cv when he took over? Seriously?

KK has got the job and EVERYONE must let the owners know hes the man who will take us back to the top. I would have preferred Hiddink myself but now Kenny is here he has my 100% support and belief that he will turn things round.
We need to let the owners know that we want KK to be here for the long haul

For the last 20 or so years this club has been living in the past. I fear this faith in Kenny's messiah like qualities is just a continuation of that trend. I hope he proves me wrong but i'm still hoping for a fresh start in the summer.

KK has made it clear right at the beginning that he was only here to help out Lvp until the summer and he had no objections to being replaced by a better man if they can find one.

If they can find that better man, I have no objections too. My definition of a better guy would be someone who has a track record of winning Championship trophies in the tough(not minor) leagues of Europe and have won the Champions League trophy at least once.

Guys like Deschamps, Rainieri, Pellegrini(possibly)  I'm sure will be approached as a Plan B, but will they be good enough? And we'll have to start all over again with a side so accustomed to KK's style of mgt by then, like now we're starting over again with players mostly signed by Rafa but accustomed to RH's style.

The only guys I'd approve are Hiddink(very hard) and Rijkaard.

I love KK like a brother and was ecstatic to hear his return. But first and foremost I'm a Lvp fan. I want what is best for Lvp and must not let the sentiments and nostalgia of his past glories here to cloud our judgement. I will want him to stay only if :

1. We don't get relegated. I believe since RH took over, Lvp has been such a mess and is like a bed ridden terminal disease patient. Thank you very much to Purslow, Hicks, Gillet, Rafa and RH for that leaving KK with a mountain to climb. I don't think Lvp can win most of their remaining games but pls prove me wrong.

2. KK still has the passion, resilience and tenacity to manage Lvp in the long term and will not do a Keegan at Newcastle when things get tough or abruptly resign like he did 20 yrs ago. I don't want to go through that heartbreak again.

3. Team performance is getting more positive and an overall uptrend.
4. New owners will provide enough funds for KK to build a team as formidable as the 87/88 side and boost up the defence for everyone's sake.

If those 4 conditions are fulfilled, I WANT KK to continue, otherwise it's time to look for that Better Manager.

So what do you all think?

In addirion, his "acumen" is upped, because his closest comparison is Skrtel.

Gerrard:  Id love Kenny to stay.

The King is in charge of first-team matters until the end of the season and while he is yet to enjoy his first win as temporary boss, Gerrard believes Dalglish's presence is having a positive effect.

The skipper will miss the Wolves game at the weekend as he completes a three-match suspension, but when he returns to the first team, he plans to do everything he can to help earn Dalglish the manager's job on a permanent basis.

"I want to do everything in my power to ensure that he stays here for a long time, beyond the initial six months," said Gerrard in an exclusive interview in this week's LFC Weekly.

"I'd love nothing better when the end of the season comes than for us to be on the back of a good run of results that ensures he gets the job full-time. That's my short-term plan, to give everything I've got and all my energy to try to make that happen.

"I won't lie. When Kenny rang to say he was coming back it was a big lift. I love Kenny as a person and I've certainly enjoyed the first few days we've had working with him. I can see a positive future for Kenny at the club.

"I think he's the perfect person to get everyone moving in the right direction again. He's the talisman at this club. His nickname, the King, says it all really. He's the perfect manager and also person to bring it all together. It's time to re-group and for us all to be pulling in the right direction because this season certainly hasn't been good enough."

Kenny Dalglish is the new manager of Liverpool Football club..

The second time we have read this.

The first time he was taking over a giant of football. He had a squad of world class players and the legacy of the boot room to feed from. Simply he could not fail and for the first couple of years he was still the best player at the club (even though he played himself to rarely and retired IMHO too early).

Lets look at now. We have new owners, there may be light at the end of a very long tunnel but we really dont know yet. The team is short of at least five players to be truly competetive in the top four again, and Kenny has been 10 years out of the game.

He is King Kenny. A true legend of LFC. What we need to remember is that in the real world outside our magical club this means feck all.

Do I still think he has got it? the answer is still a resounding yes. Kenny proved himself further as a manager and coach at Blackburn and pulled off something of a miracle there. BUT. He does not have a magic wand and is not really a god. He will improve this. But not in the way a lot of you think... he will i believe make the players think they are winners again and he will inspire them. The results on the pitch will not come consistently for many months yet. We will not get relegated. I am certain of that, but dont go expecting European football next season.

What we will get from Kenny cannot be bought, We will get our soul as a football club back. This is priceless.

In a way I could not care less where we play, PL, Cl, or even the Championship. LFC is truly special........ Its the soul of this club I love. And we have lost it. King Kenny will get it back for us. Remember this when you are wondering about results, these are not the most important thing about our club.

great emotional post.

Look there is optimism - and belief in the man at the helm, because of who he is and his record.. Rafa was criticised for being a 'cup guru' over controlling; Roy for not having the tactical nouse and not being the Liverpool-type.. so now with Kenny we have a true legeng, winner as player and manager, shrouded in the traditions of our club, and knowing full well what is expected. He's also been in the background seeing and hearing what has gone on under the previous managers.. so whilst the task ahead does not change, the fella at the helm certainly has and if he can't make a difference then who can at this stage?

The reality is that we must must win our next game... so the need to strengthen !

good post zara  :nod

newcastle fans would no doubt be able to see the similarities in the appointment thats for sure. I know there is optimism, I'm optimistic, but this 'lets all light the torches and gather round the ground' demanding that at once kenny be given a 5 year contract or summat is just plain daft at this moment in time. Lets pray his mesiah like qualities and man management cut it these days, no one hopes so more than me, but lets temper that with a dose of reality guys.

You know what ... Newcastle.. who  ???

This is what it means, http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news....to-stay this why people are saying it.. this is why the Captain is saying it.. so lets not stop hoping.. and posting that we hope.. otherwise why are we all ere ay ay  :talktothehand

If Kenny doesn't stay in charge beyond the summer, I think the odds are he will, he'll leave the club and the team in good shape for a permanent appointment who can take things on. It'll take time but the team will get better I think so if Kenny is to be the choice I think he'll deliver and quite probably the title. I haven't heard anyone come out publicly against him going back and for Kendall to say what he said at the weekend said it all.

I think Kenny deserves one more full season. This season, he can't do much, only 4 months left, the die has been cast. It would take a miracle for us to get a european spot... All thanks to Roy for destroying the players' confidence...
