After the last match , we need :

2 strong defenders ( I want Samba and Ryan Shawcross )
2 Wingers left and Right  ( Stewart Downing and Marc Albrighton )
1 strong DM (Mascherano not playing much in Barca ... maybe can loan him )
1 Attacking Midfield ( I prefer Eden Hazard )

we're crying out for quality defenders who have a bit of pace and are decent in the air. a blind man could see it. it's at the stage now where i literally cr@p myself everytime somebody crosses a ball into our penalty area.

Question: with Kenny 'officially' with the club only until the end of the season - will kwality players wanna join us, knowing a change in Manager is a possibility?

... that does not answer the question ???

Take Konchesky - like him or not, the mite has been left a bot in the wilderness, since his ol ol boss has left. Could others see problems with a change in manager..

According to SSN we have made an approach for Stewart Downing..  :glare: I didn't realise he was Villa's highest scorer this season, which isn't difficult but I think he could be potentially a good signing for us. He ticks most of the boxes for a winger. Could he be the next John Barnes?

Young would actually fit the bill. He's got some talent, he's young and we DEPERATELY need a player who will carry the ball and run at players (we only have 3 players in the whole squad who can do it) and give us a threat from wide areas. Maxi and Kuyt don't exactly strike fear into opposing teams do they. He's gone off the boil a bit this season but then so has everyone at Villa. Stiull reckon he'd cost a few quid though, pretty sure they paid 9-10 mill for him originally and he's improved since then.

Spurs were after Downing for a while a few years ago, probably around the time Commoli was there actually, so it would make sense in that respect. I think he's in the Darrent Bent bracket of quality: a definite improvement on what we alread have, but not top notch - he's a bit lacking in the physical department for me. Speaking of Darren Bent, I am shocked that i) he's handed in a transfer request, ii) Villa have bid so much for him (£18m rising to £24m according to sky). His goalscoring record is very admirable but he is no Fernando Torres and needs to be at a club where he'll be the main striker, which of course he would be at Villa. But he was doing just fine at Sunderland, so why move to Villa? Although traditionally a bigger club, they're in the bottom three and you can't see them achieving that much more than Sunderland in the foreseeable future.
