Israeli sports channels are showing all sort of old interviews with Avi.
Just seen one of them now. Here's a few quotes about liverpool :
"Liverpool is in my blood. I only played 2 years there but it gets
into you." Avi tells that he has been at least 20 times to Liverpool
since the career was over, and talks about following LFC to Istanbul.

He says that with Ronnie Rossenthal and with Yossi Benayoun he felt as if
he is playing again for the team, and could relive again his times in the
team. He says he was watching LFC games, and feels as if he is on the pitch again.

Asked who were the best players you ever played with he mentions Allen Kenedy,
Sounes ("he is still a good friend") but Kenny was the best. He could get the ball
even when you give him a bad pass, and still make a goal out of it.

Avi talks about the famous game against Aston villa. He scored an own goal to tie
the game just before half time. During half time, everyone came and told him "it's ok"
"it happens..". Minutes into the second half Avi scores the go-ahead goal and makes it 2-1.
He says he remebers it as if it was yesterday. Sammy Lee throws the ball to Kenny.
Avi says "leave it!" (he says that it was all the english he knew at the time....) and
he kickes it in. LFC wins 4-1 and officially wins the 1980 title.

Really sad to hear he is gone. Liverpool plays Bolton next week (were his son, Tamir, is
playing). Yesterday, when one of Boltons platers scored a goal, he lifted a shirt
saying "get well soon avi cohen". Too bad it won't help.

RIP Avi. You'll never walk alone.

Rest in peace.

Dead is always sad, but when it's an accident and thus unexpected it's especially devastating. :(

I have only just noticed that he died today. I honestly thought he would be back out and on his bike again in no time. For me he will always be remembered for that own goal and then going the other end and getting the bugger back !

Rest in Peace.

it's one thing Shanks was wrong about ,saying football is more important than life or death. It isn't.

RIP. Best wishes for your friends and family.
