Avi cohen, ex liverpool, injured in a car accident - RIP

Israeli news reports that today at about 2pm local time, Avi Cohen, while riding his motorcycle, was hit by a car. Avi Cohen was brought to the hospital unconscious, sufferung of a head injury.

Cohen played 2 seasons for Liverpool (1979-1981), and was the first non-British player to play for Liverpool.

Cohen is the head of Israeli football players union.
His son, Tamir Cohen, is playing for Bolton.

Hope for good news.

Avi Cohen was the first of 3 Israelis to play for Liverpool (Ronnie Rossenthal and Yossi Benayoun are the other two).
Avi was a big fan of the team. In 2005 he was one of the Ex-players that were invited to Istanbul by the team.

Israeli press reports that he is in "very severe" condition, and doctors are fighting for his life.
