I got Tevez and Balotelli for a combined fee of 14 mill after the first season. Had to give them 150, and 100k in wages though. Sadly my team played better in 4-2-3-1 with Torres as a lone striker than with torres and tevez.

playing the out dated 4-4-2, fluid with counter attacking football, thrashed the mancs 5-0 in the process :nod

I think it all depends on the match preparation scheme in training.

the 4-2-3-1 wasn't getting me goals :(  had a bit of a blip, then resorted to 4-4-2 went on a winning streak and snatched the title from the mancs :D

how do you play the 4-2-3-1?

Reina

Johnson    Carra   Agger   Crisicito

       Meireles    Poulesen

Kuyt             Gerrard           Elia

                   Torres

My fullbacks are bombing down the wings along with my left winger. Kuyt is holding slightly back and cutting inside. Gerrard and meireles pushing forward through the middle with poulsen holding back in a more supporting role

In my second season managing LFC on FM 2011. Won the premiership and the Euro Cup in the first season and on course to win premiership again but looking to the future I really need to produce some talented "home growns" or I'll be forced to use a reduced squad.

Anybody got any recommendations for youngsters who will go on to become quality players ?

mate, I'm in 2020 right now :D

won the premiership 7 times in a row, 4 champions league, 4 FA cups and 3 league cups, got bored resigned and went to Juventus :D

Recommendations from me for youngsters are the following:

Moussa Sissoko (quality) MRC

Y'ann M Villa (to be one of the best ball winning midfielders in the future) DM/MC

Yaya Sanogo (This guy will turn out to be a beast of a player, snap him up!! Highly recommended) ST

Khouma Babacar ( Same as Yaya Sanogo, powerful striker drogba style type of player) ST

Jonjo Shelvey (keep playing him, in mine he became a world class midfielder and got 23 assists in one season) M/AMC

Alexis Sanchez ( I bought him at the age of 22, became a Cristiano Ronaldo Mark 2) AMRLC -Right Wing

Miralem Pjanic (Quality AMC) AMC

Also, keep on a look out for the generated players, some of them I picked up became beasts in 3 years, especially the Brazilian players. Sao Paulo usually generate the best Brazilian players. Even Argentinians turn out to be quality. Here is a tip, during search players just filter using ages between 16-17, and look for the players who are valued the most, most of the time these players turn out to be quality ones.

Home grown players:

Lee Hodson - Watford
Lee Wallace - Hearts
Leigh Griffiths - Dundee
Jonathon Page - Motherwell

Other good young players:

Yassine El Ghanassy - AA Genk
Radosav Petrovic - Partizan
Marko Vejinovic - Heracles
Jelle Vossen - AA Genk
Guus Joppen - Helmond Sport
Ole Gunnar Heggelund - Molde

When I find more I will pop them up.
