Reina, Kuyt or Torres there the 3 most senior

I think the thread starter made a good shout with Torres and would go along with that hadn't Pepe been given the captaincy in the absence of Gerrard and Carragher. Had Torres been given the armband initially I think his game would have 'upped' 10% or more. I know people will say that he shouldn't get the armband for us to get the very best out of him but he's only human and if he'd of been given the armband in the first place we may not have seen the slump body language we have seen recently from him. He may have lead more, and been more positive when we've needed it, it could have been a physchological boost for him personally and the team too had he looked more 'willing and able'. However back then (when the armband was handed out) who was to know that at a time like this Torres would be more ideal [IMO] than Pepe? In saying this, I wouldn't take the armband a way from Pepe now as I reckon he's contemplating his future a little and we wouldn't want to upset our prized asset between the sticks. I don't think he'd take it aswell as Hyypia did when the captain's armband was taken away from him and it could edge Pepe closer out the Anfield exit door.

I think that I remember reading one of his earlier interviews where he said that it is good that he's not a captain anymore, because it put a huge burden on his shoulders when he was at A Madrid and it had a negative effect on his game. I could be wrong though.

He's grown up a lot since then imo and now is one of the first names on the team sheet. He could have let it get him down but didn't and has now come back stronger than ever to be one of our most important players. He has captained the side before this season and thrived under the responsibility of being one of the more senior players. I think you're doing him a huge disservice.

Anyway it's all pretty irrelevant now anyway as it looks like it'll be Pepe.

I love Pepe to bits.... and the Lads already a legend ....but for me it has to be a Midfielder someone who can orchestrate the play as well as bark out the orders ,lets face it if the Little Chief was still here he would have been the favourite to merit this ...but as it is I think Lucas deserves the Captaincy, I think it would take his game to another level .... because albeit from Pepe the lad has been one of our most consistent performers ,and he is getting better every game he plays ... was very Good against Spurs alongside Meireles ...and I think we need a bit of a monster someone not scared to get stuck in ,and Lucas fits that bill perfectly for me .
