Rafa benitez appreciation thread - Part 2

International Football/Football World Wide - General Discussion

I don't see how Rafa was in a "no win" situation. I can see how he was in a "may well not get credit for a win" situation, but to me he was in a "difficult to avoid winning" situation as well. Inter Milan were so much better than everyone else over the last few seasons, it ought to have been like falling off a log.

The problems Rafa has encountered in mnay ways sum up his intrinsic difficulties IMHO. I mean, if that had've been most managers taking over at Inter they would have changed feck all. They'd have kept the same system the players were obviously comfortable with, kept all the routines largely the same etc etc. Rafa was never going to do that though was he, particularly not following his arch nemesis. So in he comes, ego blazing and starts all over again. It's got echoes of Brian Clough at Leeds in the 70's.

All Inter needed to do was bring in a manager who keeps things ticking over. They didn't, they brought in Benitez. Now they are paying the price.

TBF no team has ever won the CL twice in a row and theres a few ageing players in that Inter squad, you see whats happened to united now Fergie can no longer rely on Scholes & Giggs to get him out of the sh!t.

Every cycle comes to an end we should know that better than anyone.

BTW I dont watch Italian football and have only seen Inter in the CL so cannot comment on how they are playing nor if the italian league is good or not.

It isnt about how he performs in the champions league.
Its about the job he is doing overall so far.

Like Roy he is majorly underperforming.

I know the reason for that, and its because his hearts not in it, his heart is still here, plus his wife hates it there.

Seems like a lame excuse that ciggy.

He isnt actually playing, his job is to pick the right team and tactics. He should still be able to do that regardless of whether he wishes he was still here.

Why is is a lame excuse Ben? At the end of the day if your hearts not in it then you wont perform to the best of your abilities. The Inter fans also probably get :censored: off every time in a press conference a question is put to him about us.

If you love something its hard to let it go as much as people think rafa was a hard hearted b@stard he loved our club as much as anyone, and when your wife is homesick then it makes being in another country twice as hard I know I live in Holland, and havent grew to love it like Montse grew to love Caldy.

Is this a fact then is it; his heart not being in it or merely as stated a lame excuse. It's the latter for me definately.

Its not excuses its what I have heard from the horses mouth, and I do believe his heart is still here and thats why he might be under performing in italy, and the players are just not responding to him because they know it aswell.

Anyway not argueing all day about Rafa if he has problems in italy its none of our buisness, Roy is our problem now.

Rafa will sort himself and his club out.

He is meant to be a professional at what he does.

Its as simple as that really.

Mascherano performed ok last season for us in a similar situation.
