it's not just about the loans though is it? the core issue is that the government are cutting by 40% their investment in education across the board while at the same time asking students to stump up 3 times the fee they did before. its about how much this government doesn't care about the future, about creating a sensible, sustainable and creative society. all they are looking at now is making drastic cuts to save money and conveniently laying all the blame at labour's door.
how do you think this is going to accept society? how will a kid from a working class background decide to take on 50k debt for an education and how will a kid from a middle or upper class background take the same decision? how the hell are we supposed to develop a fair and balanced society when once again the less well off are paying for the better off?
personally i'm delighted that a new generation of students has decided its time to take to the streets and show that they won't just put up with right wing bullshít
