Anyone getting the message yet?

dunno about minority mate. Its more the debate itself, if its all that gets talked about people just throw their hat in the ring

Greavsie, theres nowt wrong with having a lively debate mate, it people's monotone tirades and general style of suffocating, bickering behaviour I'm on about.

Long live free speach, but stop the incestuous bickering and bitchín', its killing the forum.

Ok, thats what I'm saying, its got nasty, its got tedious, its driving folks away.

So either shut the thread for a while for folks to cool down, or those involved realise their behavious is unacceptable for the good of teh forum and change their ways. but you've admitted it, its got nasty and thats not good for the forum.

Agree?

I agree with Reg.. things are on the up, we are all Liverpool supporters and that must be our focal point. Roy is doing his damndest to win games and we should recognise that - so lets stop dissing and start cheering :)

I promise not to argue anymore ,

Nah i can see were Reg is coming from tbh and the thing is he is right it does get a bit mad on here sometimes an yes i have been guilty of a few upsets , but i only saying the same thing what id say to you or anyone if i met them in the pub, sometimes it is a funny healthy debate but other times you get posts with underhanded remarks in them , not coming straight to the point . id sooner be told point blank that im talking sh,ite and why by the person and no hard feelings after ,done an dusted move along to the next have a go, and not have another person jump on your case and make you look an idiot an all, were all gonna differ in opinion its human nature , ask my husband, But yeh i can see where Reg is coming from with this,
HE WHO BETRAYS WILL ALWAYS WALK ALONE

The Hodgson thread probably is a bit redundant now. It was probably intended to be a "how do you feel about Hodgson becoming our manager" thread rather than a day by day commentry on how people feel he is doing. It's existence does to some extent encourage the Benitez arguments, as well as the pictures, the name calling and the abuse (which thankfully have died down a bit in fairness).

That said, people should be free to discuss the manager whenever they want. If they don't like his team selections, don't like his purchases, think we should be higher in the table etc etc then obviously the forum is the place to discuss it. The Hodgson thread though contains a lot of baggage, as well as a lot of unfortunate posts which would be probably be better forgotten about completely.

I'd draw a line under it myself, as well as re-state the rules not so much in terms of cards but of acceptable behaviour in terms of what is and isn't allowed towards the manager of Liverpool Football Club. posters concerens though could quite easily be put in their own thread "should we be higher up the league", "is the manager buying too many sh!t players" etc etc rather than just getting lumped into the Hodgson thread.

Mick, there is nothing wrong with fair, open discussion, that is not in question.

What I am objecting to is quite clear: monotone tirades that suffocate normal discussion and put off other posters from either entering that conversation or even in fact driving them out of teh forum. The current 'style' or 'method' of debate is counter productive.

So the only line that needs to be drawn under anything is poor debating, poor power of expression and intolerance of other people and their views.

Is that asking too much?

No it isn't Reg, that's why I'm agreeing with you.

Well ive been here for a while now.....

There has been a lot of b.itchin recently...not my thing to get involved to be honest but i took a look at the Roy Hodgson thread and i voted to close it for a month.

See how we do as a team...then come mid-December there will obviously things to discuss like who he will go for in the transfer market...

Leave the thread open but don't carry on the pointless bickering (or find a way of dealing with it) seems like the most sensible option to me. One general thread for discussing the manager is a helpful default if you're in any doubt about where to put your football post - closing it won't stop any bickering migrating to other parts of the forum. People want to discuss the big topics and they'll simply find the next best thread in which to do that if the general manager thread is shut down.

Don't know about Reg bit I am .

I'm considering just deleting the all the Hodgson threads, giving everyone a chance to start again

Do you think it'll make a difference  ???

I dont think its a good advertisement for this forum, the mindless two-way sledging between posters is tedious and quite unnecessary.

The forum exists for the enjoyment of the members not for the egotrips of the few and the intensity of the current discussion is turning away established members.

Go look at the Wigan thread in the General discussion section to see how humourous the forum used to be and also how many members have recently slipped away.

Folks, the owners have changed, the manager has changed and now OUR attitudes have got to change. We have to be more positive and move away from constant bickering.

I vote we close the thread for a week and reopen it with 6 further points in the bag and the happy-clappies are back in force.

But for góds sake stop the bickering.........  :idea

im sorry SIR REG nice try but it wont work. God forbid we draw or lose 2nite the same few will be out with the daggers.

i told you im always right REG. Have you read the match posts. Exactly what i said would happen.
