Christain purslow - Time to move on..

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby sgs » Wed Oct 20, 2010 12:04 am

1. In retrospect one of the biggest mistakes of the H&G era was failure to properly revamp the Board and bring in experienced football men with new ideas.

2. However it should be said that they did relatively well in reorganizing the commercial dept.

3. While Purslow has done a heroic job in helping oust H&G, it is crucial to the effort of rebuilding LFC that the man be eased out, asap..

4. He is not a football man and from snippets of comments by Benitez, it is clear that he has strayed beyond his capabilities as a finance man.

5. What is more, while the politics of the club justified the removal of Benitez, his choice of Hogson betrayed a deep lack of knowledge of the game.

6. If NESV is to make real progress in rebuilding LFC, they must take a decision on Purslow and quickly. As it is they have very good advisers from the Arsenal people arounnd them...

7. Its time to put a decisive end to Purslow's monkey business..

He is not a football man, sure, but he did more than ousting H+G. People usually don't see it, but finance wise he kept the club stable for the last 2 years. For me I would keep him as the director of finance and on the board. Good man

People must perform specific roles. John Smith and Peter Robinson were 'commercial' and fiercely loyal to the club, Robbo negotiated transfer fees, players contracts and wages. The manager didnt.

In todays modern footbal environment we need a very savvy marketing man - someone like Ayres and we need a savvy finance man. We also need a very sohisticated CEO to represent the club at FIFA, UEFA and FA level. Can one man perform the CEO/Finance role, I dont know.

If CP had a clear job description, sphere of influence and dedicated himself to the club like Smith and Robinson did, then he can stay.

My other condition would be that KK becomes Director of Footbal, responsible for scouting, buying, wages and running the Academy and Reserves. He would appoint managers/staff for each who report to him as would the scouting team.

The football manager would be responsible for moulding the first team squad, tactics and ensuring success on the pitch. Punto. Fitness staff, 'bootroom' would be club employees reporting jointly to the manager and KK. One manager and his assistant. If the manager walks, the Bootroom survives.

Back to basics lads, you look to the past to see the future.

So for me, with a clearly defined senior role and dedicating himself to the club, CP can stay. There is still a big role for him to play.

No Maxi some people know whats what , and he is not what we need at the club, ive have been saying it for months ,we need a toltal clear out and he should be one on the claer out list. Because he was in the frame all last week with Broughton as he saviour pf our club, he slipped under the radar abit, yeh we thank him for his help working alomhside Broughton, But im sorry but we need a football man here making the decisions he has to make based on his knowledge of the game , not based on who the press think are flavour of the month , he canot be allowed to be able to appoint or interfere with our next choice of manager ,because when eventualy if our manager does go we need to get the next appointment absolutly spot on, it makes me laugh the way everytime someone mentions he or someone else has to go .the previous manager is brought into it, and some people say we are the ones obssessed . its those same people who keep bringing him up in anything about this club, so yeh laugh because its becoming a joke.

Why?

Because Rafa had a pop?  :D

You are so predictable.

I actually think he has done a good job so far. Put it this way I'd prefer him than Parry.

No because he brought Hodgson here, great that the board got rid of twit & tw@t, but they should stick to finance and not meddle in the football side of things.
We need an experienced football chairman in now and a manager that knows what hes doing to.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

I think there is still a role for him at the club. I hope he stays.

Too many people don't appreciate the role he played in keeping the finances on an even keel.

We have a lot to thank him for.

I think he should stay, he is a very good financial guy and that it was they should keep him as, I do not think he would be given the job to appoint a new manager under NESV.

I dont think it was just Purslows decision to get rid of Rafa and appoint Roy, some people just want a scapegoat

Top post man :buttrock

If we can put him in charge of negotiations, finance and transfers, he will do a really good job, for example, how he got the Aquilani deal so quickly! CP is a loyal Liverpool fan, so why not give him the finance job?

Get Kenny Dalglish working with him in the transfer department!

well he has a role to play then why not put him in charge of finance and the board? you don't need a football man for that role. If we do what Reg is saying, Liverpool will be up and running and doing so much better
