Pennent - The one that got away!

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Had Houllier stayed Pennent would have been playing at Anfield this season. A fee of around 3Mil had been agreed but due to the change in manager the deal colapased.

Houllier had indentified him as the answer to the right side of midfield, and was also said to have found a new centre back to partner Hyypia, but his identity remains a mystery.

I think the defender was a guy from Nott's Forest.

although a big fan of dawson, carragher is playing well in the central role alongside hyypia and is now learning from one of the best
penant is the one that got away? good, we got garcia and alonso instead, both of which id prefer to penant.

Hi everyone just joined, LFC thro and thro.

My m8 is a season ticket holder at Notts Forest and he reckons Dawson is overated.  He's big and has some prescence but the jury is out on whether he'll make it or not.

Something needs to happen, Sami is in decline and his distribution is not good enough.

If he's overated, then he sounds just like the kind of purchase we might have made last season. :p

Nice to be here!

My m8 live's his way and says he a real nice lad, good background, down 2 earth, looks after himself.  He's had a few injuries and they reckon he's going thro "growing pains" aka Kirkland and Gerrard.  He's one to watch, as I said, the jury's out.  I'd prefer Dawson to Wes Brown!

I just cant see it, if it was the case then how come he is still at Arsenal and not sold or on loan again??

I agree with dawson99,Carra is improving & starting to form an understanding with Hyppia. However we may need a quality international central defender to help us progress through the champions league.

I can't believe how well Carra has settled into central defence.

I've never seen him playing so well, solid as a rock. He had a great game against Chelsea and has been a bright point in a shaky start to the season.

Carra has to be the best player for our club at the moment hes really blossomed in CD, I think he thought he would be shown the door like murphy was, so hes playing his heart and soul out for the club and he loves the fans, hes not the same jamie that played two years back, I remember him against bergkamp remember the coin incident he had a mare that day, and the game last season against arsenal, our whole team came out all guns blazing, but they where like lions wounded and battered us 4-2 :glare: didnt kewell score that day and gerrard? Think that was the last goal kewell scored.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

I think someone has already hit this nail on the head, but I think Carragher is playing 60% on skill and 40% on pure passion.  If everyone else put that much passion in the whole team would rise to the next level.  Don't get me wrong, i don't think its everone who needs to get stuck in, but people like Kewell, Cisse, sometime Risse could all do with a bit of an injected passion boost.
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On
