 Well that should cheer everyone up a bit. Probably blows my formation out of the water as well which is a bit of a p!sser, although I suppose he'll probably drop Gerrard in to sit and push Maxi up with Cole and Mereiles to create.

Maxi's a good player in terms of ability, but unforutnately for him and us he tends to get lost in the pace and physicality of English football so I don't have any great hopes for him. That said, quiality is quality so hopefully he pulls it ut of the fire tomorrow.

His style of play doesnt fit with ours... I'd much rather have Meireles playing deeper with Gerrard pushed higher up for this one...

The player who can potentially improve the side drastically if the manager manages to get the best out of him is Meireles.. About friggin time we started playing him in his natural position as a deep central midfielder... Get Gerrard drifting to the flanks from higher up to open up spaces for Torres down the middle and perhaps put in the early crosses whenever possible.. Too many players we have who offer ZERO movement off the ball and generally slow down play

Gotta win this win, even a draw is no good. We have a team capable of winning in Goodison and with the week we've have had there will be an extra bounce in our steps

2-1 to the reds

Richard Buxton has posted the 'apparent' starting eleven on Twitter and he has Meireles on the wide left - Maxi wide right and Cole in behind Nando.

No Pienaar, Fellaini, Saha, Rodwell or Jagielka apparently.
The lads should be up and about after the events of the last week, oh and it is a derby FFS. Been a very quiet build up but as history tells us this is always a very intense fixture.
Kuyt is a big loss, this is his type of game. However they are missing many more important players, Fellaini and Jagielka are huge omissions for them.
Torres on one leg is quicker then Distin, I expect him to have a good game and boy does he need one!

I'd like to see,

Reina
Kelly Carra Kyrgiakos Agger
Babel Meireles Lucas Cole
Gerrard
Torres

Quite happy to see Johnson out and I think we should give Kelly a crack. The main concern for me apart from Nando's form/fitness are the flanks. I'd give Babel a go on the right although theres no chance of that happening. I think he POTENTIALLY offers alot more then Maxi.

IF we don't win Roy should go, and even if we do win I'd like to see him moved on sooner rather then later.

However we will win, by at least 2.

Roy wont go either way. The owners want stability right now and roy will give that ( no mention of decent footy though ).

I cant see us in the attacking mood today. Roy doesnt like action and adventure. Solid midfield, tight at the back, maybe nick a goal zzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Glad johnson isnt in, maybe he has gone for a haircut and some attitude lessons ( joined by babel )

1-1 today :(

big match this, would like to see Cole back in the hole........:D .......seriously, i think he plays better there and i think having someone like Jova in the line up to do the hard yards is always good.

                                                                            Reina

                                       Carra                   Greek                Agger                Konchesky

                                                             Gerrard                   Meireles

                                         Babel                                                             Jova

                                                                            Cole

                                                                           Torres

Shi,tting bricks now....Hansen said this is our biggest game in 30 years last night on MOTD!Now I wouldn't agree with that but it's definately our biggest and most important Derby that I can remember!

Simply put we just HAVE TO WIN!

I just hope we can step it up and get all 3 points...cause if we don't it's gonna be grim!

I think we'll win 3-1! :)

Roy Hodgson's plans for this afternoon's Merseyside derby have been ripped up following the late withdrawal of Christian Poulsen, according to unconfirmed reports.

It's understood that Poulsen was given permission to withdraw from the squad for the trip to Goodison Park late on Saturday night on 'compassionate grounds'.

Poulsen had been set to line up in the centre of midfield, enabling Hodgson to select Steven Gerrard in attack alongside Fernando Torres.

However, Gerrard is now expected to play in midfield, with David N'Gog partnering Torres instead.
