yeah that'll help Torres, kick him in the balls while he's feeling down. drop him to the bench until he proves he can score a bag full for the reserves. In fact, fuk it, just sell him to Shrewsbury Town for £100k - he's sh!t anyway.

Hodgson set to make 11 changes.

The boss told his pre-match press conference that none of those who took to the field at the beginning of our Carling Cup defeat to Northampton would start against Steve Bruce's outfit.

"None of the players who are playing on Saturday played on Wednesday night," said Hodgson.

"We had a very bad result on Wednesday night but it should not affect the 11 players who are going to start the game on Saturday because they weren't part of the game."

Asked whether Dirk Kuyt could return from a shoulder injury earlier than expected against the Black Cats, Hodgson added: "Kuyt is the only one we have a slight reservation about but we'll see if he makes it. Therefore the only serious injury situation is Fabio Aurelio."

Hodgson was also asked about Daniel Agger's comments to Danish TV, which were taken out of context and reported in English newspapers.

He responded: "This happens a lot. A player is not in the team, he does an interview on his national television, people then take his answers and put different questions to them.

"The boy is very, very upset because he hasn't said these things but it's another nice little headline after the defeat to Manchester United."

Reporters wanted to know if the manager would now speak with Agger about the situation.

"I don't give players mass media training," he said. "I would give mass media training to young players but Agger has played many games for Liverpool and Denmark - I wouldn't want to pull him aside and say, 'Be careful what you say." He already understands those things.

"You are going to get caught out sometimes."

Well one of the issues i had with benitez was that he didn't always pick players who were on form or getting there (Keane, Cisse, Babel, Benayoun, crouch.....etc).

Ngog is one of our few players currently on some type of form. He keeps finding the net most of the time he starts this season. And with gerrard and cole behind him....he will get more than his fair share of chances.

Torres should only get back into the team if he proves his worth this season.

Nah.  Ngog absolutely bottled a vital penalty at a pivotal moment in the shootout the other night.  As far as I'm concerned, that kind of thing doesn't get rewarded.  :Oo:

well after roy saying he's going to change the whole 11 from the 11 that started against northampton I'd say:

                  reina

johnson     carra      Skrtel     konchesky

           Poulsen    Meireles

Maxi             gerrard           Cole

                    torres

that's if Kuyt is not fit - if he is, I'd reckon he'll start in place of maxi

Sunderland are tripe away from home. Infact they make us look relatively good in comparison on our travels. They've won six away games in ten years in the top flight.

If we go out with a positive outlook, despite all the doom and gloom, I fully expect us to win.

That'll be the team mate, and obviously if Kuyt is fit he'll make it much stronger.

Two points. First, regardless of whether or not Kut is fit I'd like to see us go

                            Poulsen

                     Gerrard        Mereiles

                             Torres

rather than the captain sitting. Also, if Kuyt is fit, we could consider a 4-4-2 with the Dutchman doing the donkey work up top (no pun intended) and Gerrard on the right.
