Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Every pundit in the world is writing us off already and with 5 points from 5 games is not the best start however the starting games we have had isnt the easiest.

Arsenal (H) Draw
Man city (A) Lose
West Brom (H) Win
Birmingham (A) Draw
Man utd (A) Lose

We still havent lost at home. We have played 3 of the best 4 teams in the league away from home and the next 5 games we have and the results we should get could give us confidence for the November 7th game against Chelsea.

Sunderland (H)
Blackpool (H)
Everton (A)
Blackburn (H)
Bolton (A)

I expect us to get atleast 13 points from them 5 the only game i can see us not coming away with a win is everton away only because they love to play the most defensive side when we visit.

If we can get the 13 points i have predicted then i think many people will be changing there minds and will make the chelsea game a very exciting one and one i think we can go and win.

Chelsea fans are laughing thinking they have already gained enough points ahead of the others in the top four. They are idiots.. they have faced all the relegation candidates already!

We have had a very very tough start and its been made even harder since our players are adjusting to Roy's style of play.

Things will pick up im 100% sure of that. Still not sure if we can make 4th though.

It's getting that all important next win that's the key, a good performance on saturday is a must. Let's face it others are struggling a bit too and haven't had a tough start like we have.

I don't think Sunderland will be a push over, but a win will restore some confidence. A positive team selection and get stuck into them from the off.

yesterday was tough to take, but we have had a tough run of games. Over the next 5 games we'll see how we cope against the lower teams. Win our next 5 (which i predict) and we'll be sitting in the top 5.  :buttrock

yes the fixtures have been difficult. the negativity stems from the poor performances so far. apart from the second half against arsenal we've been second best in every game. we didn't deserve to beat west brom and birmingham could have been out of sight by half time.

we do have a lot of new players settling into the team though. the next 5 games are all very winnable but i wouldn't put any money on how many points we'll get. a lot of it depends on our mentality and approach, which quite frankly has been negative so far. the players cannot keep using the ownership issue as an excuse. we often struggle to string two passes together and the lack of movement is chronic at times.

i'll judge again after the next five games.

one might say the next five games are vital
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

I think its fair to say the manager and players are probably better focused now.

We won't get more than 7 points from our next five games, nevermind win all five games. I wouldn't mind trying to be a bit optimistic, but the realist in me says we won't having watched the sh*te we've been playing for the past few weeks. It's no coincidence that the form of Torres is directly linked to how the team is performing.

Can we really blame the manager for lacklustre performances from our best players? Gerrard and Johnson have been excellent for england Torres has played well for spain. Is it Roys fault that these three in particular have been mediocre for LFC? The squad is looking stronger and the team on sunday was potentially capable of beating one of the best teams in europe. Its about time the senior players took responsibility and pulled their finger our. This miserable sulking has to stop and they need to give the fans what they want soon. If they dont the job will be even harder than it is already

I agree with that. I do think that players get away with a lot and every new manager is a breath of fresh air etc.  In fact after SG's comments about McLaren I dont take anything a playerr says seriously.

But in this world it comes down to the manager so even though the players should take responsibility Roy will ultimately be responsible fair or not fair.

On his tenure so far, well its a been a tough start and its only five games in so its hard to judge.

I dont think that Poulsen will be a hit but am happy to concede that again its early

Meireles looks good as far as I can tell and am happy to tip him as a great signing

The service to Torres was diabolical throughout most of the game so it leads me to conclude that all is not the fault of Lucas.  we either play possesion in easy zones or revert to kick and rush which urgently needs adressing.

I havent been impressed with Roy in the press so far.  Ok no title challenge and that I can accept in the current climate but with this squad we should definitely be challenging for top four.  This is why he was brought in and it is what we all demand.  So patience and time for rebuilding, no problem from me.  But we should demand a top four as that is the reason for getting rid of Rafa and getting Roy.  If you cant stand the heat etc.

Even the guardian today said that Roy looked shocked at Fergies comments after the game,  so I hope its a lesson to be learnt.  At LFC you dont make friends you get results end of, and that should be basic and unarguable.  But its early and I still have faith and hope he will get us into the top four.  If he doesnt then his second season might be under threat.

I think that we havent sussed him out yet and he hasnt sussed us out yet.  Rafa seemed to get it immediately but is no longer here and  while I will never ever forget the guy it is far more important to support and have faith in the team as it is now.
