What about Voronin, Morientes, Pennant, Diouf, Dossena, Riera, Lucas, and N'Gog to name a few? We've had to settle for second/third rate players like them already and I would say Konchesky and Cole are of better quality than that lot.

Morientes a second/third rate player below the quality of Carlton f*cking Cole and Paul Koncheski.

Riera was and is a good player and Spanish International.

Lucas has just been called up to the Brazil squad and has already played more than twice the amount of games for them as Konchesky has managed for England.

N'Gog is a talent. If you can't see that, you're blind.

Pennant was a gamble forced on the manager after the Sabrosa and Alves deals fell through due to a lack of funds/Parry's trust.

(Whatever happened to them? )

Dossena was an Italian International who clearly struggled to adapt to the pace of the English game and zonal marking.

Diouf and Voronin I'll give you, but Voro was free, remember? We also got some money in for him when he left.

You seriously could not wish for a more informed fanbase. :no

here we go...

Lando, they may have been class I wont disagree, but they were not suited to the premiership or Liverpool.

carmonkeycasino wrote:Agreed. We are not a joke. We are short on money. We can afford a few players or we can afford one good quality signing. I reckon we're doing the right thing and adding some stability to the squad. As soon as/if we get investment then i am sure Roy will go after players with more quality. What people have to realise is that we are no longer a top four team, but we must work to get back there. Tottenham were in the top four last season and they were there on merit. We may be one of the biggest clubs on the planet BUT the club needs to work, be smart, take time and not make any more stupid mistakes if we want to get back where we belong.

I'm really happy with what Hodge has done so far. He is the right man for the job. :;):

When Rafa opted to add stability to the squad, he was verbally raped at every turn for "squandering" massive amounts of money on squad players instead of getting "1 World Class player".

Odd, then, that Hodgson is the right man for the job when he is very obviously adopting the same approach as the previous incumbent.

I didn't say N'Gog wasn't a talent - the players I listed were referred to as second/third rate for Liverpool. If you think N'Gog is first rate, YOU are blind.

I would pick Aurelio, who (and I don't say this lightly) would p*ss all over Konchesky day in, day out.

The only problem is...

He's not English and he's not a superstar, so he's not rated by you know-it-alls.

Don't start with that sh*t Dawson. Just because you don't like what I'm saying, it doesn't make it invalid or incorrect.

The fact is, he said Cole and Konchesky are "of better quality" than Morientes.

And that statement is, quite obviously, a load of old cobblers.

No. You said; "What about Voronin, Morientes, Pennant, Diouf, Dossena, Riera, Lucas, and N'Gog to name a few? We've had to settle for second/third rate players like them already..."

Not once did you mention Liverpool. Be honest with yourself - it was a broad, sweeping statement that you just didn't think through.

It's OK - we've all been there.

For the record, though, since the start of the season, N'Gog has scored 4 goals in 6 games.

Cole has scored 0 in 4. :nod

So Morientes was class in the premiership???

some players, no matter how brilliant, dont fit into club or the premiership. Rafa brought class players, but didnt know they didnt always suit the fast pace of premiership football

We dont know how the new portugese guy will play yet .

Not one player is a guarenteed success - even players moving between prem clubs - plenty of players have moved between prem clubs and bombed .

Its always a risk when buying players no matter who it is or who the manager is

And had he said that, I would have agreed.

But he didn't. He called into question Morientes' quality which, in all honesty, is light years ahead of any of the players we have signed this season. The ability to adapt to a different pace/playing style and the question of quality are 2 very different things.

When it's your opinion, it "doesn't make it invalid or incorrect." If it's someone else's opinion, it's "a load of old cobblers." Well, there's a contradiction.

Morientes was a total flop, so for me, he isn't better quality than Cole or Konchesky. And despite your descriptions for each of the players I mentioned, none of them change the fact they were all second/third rate signings. You are the one talking a load of cobblers.

Well put into context what you mean by quality  Morientis has won CL medals , La Liga Titles ,French Titles - has been top scorer in spain a number of times , spanish international, top scorer for Real Madrid , Valencia etc

What exactly has Cole and Konchesky done so far ?

Yes Morientis didnt work out in the prem - it happens - robiniho didnt work out but that doesnt mean they arent quality players .
