"wooooo woo woo woo..... - We had the best midfield in the world

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I can't believe the criticism of Aquilani and people saying he was shit. He hardly played last year. In 26 appearances, he never had a run in the side, never started five games in succession, rarely played 90 minutes and was never given a chance. Whenever he came on as a sub, there was a comment I made whcih was pretty much consistent throughout last season - "he's only been on 5 minutes and he's already done more than Lucas". Sad but true.
I don't understand why we've let him go and kept Lucas. I watched the City game the other day and over a 30 minute period in that game, I just watched Lucas - if you've never done it, try it. I did it a few times last season too - trying to see what he does for the team, wondering if I'm missing something that the manager obviously sees. Well anyway, in that 30 minute period, the first 22 minutes contained one header and just once in possesion where he quickly layed the ball off. In the remaining 8 minutes, he was in possession two or three more times, and once again, laying the ball off quickly. How the feck is that possible for a central midfield player??? How the feck is that possible for a "so called" holding midfield player whose team is on the back foot? ??? When they were in possession, he didn't attempt a single tackle. When we we're in possession, he somehow puts himself in a position where he's just a bad option to pass to, so the ball gets played elsewhere - and credit where credit's due, he blessed in skill at doing that. He never looks for the ball. He brings nothing to the table whatsoever.
Roy's got rid of the wrong player!!!

Shows how much you know about the clubs history with that statement.

Replaced them with Poulson for 4 million.

Mascherano SOLD
Aqualini SOLD

Whats it going to take for people to wake up to the dire situation we are in?

Oh yes, I'm wide awake to the situation. No way should Aquilani have been allowed to go out on loan. It will be Roy's first regret as Liverpool manager. Unless he has another creative midfielder in mind.

Has anybody actually justified the Aquilani decision?

Specifically has anyone clarified if the board pushed for it or if Hodgson instigated it? Might be worth clarifying that now because it feels a bit like the Keane/Rafa/Parry signing that did my head in.

And people used to get mad at Rafa for having too much control, look at the board ripping us apart now.

More asset stripping .............

Skysports.com understands Fulham are in talks to sign Liverpool youngsters Lauri Dalla Valle and Alex Kacaniklic.

The Reds duo are currently in London to have talks with the Cottagers over possible moves, where they will have medicals if personal terms can be agreed.

Striker Dalla Valle, 18, has been on the books at Anfield since January 2008 but the Finland Under-19 international has failed to break into the first-team squad.

Swedish left winger Alex Kacaniklic, meanwhile, arrived at Liverpool from Helsingborg in the summer of 2007 and has been fighting it out in the reserves.

Fulham were thought to be interested in Dalla Valle back in January, but a deal for the forward never materialised.

Cottagers boss Mark Hughes has targeted the youngsters as possible stars for the future, and former Fulham boss Roy Hodgson

I dont think many fans thought he was :censored:, its just that some on here deified him as some sort of Lpool legend, which he was not.

He was possibly the biggest gamble of a signing the club/Rafa ever made, regarding his injury and in being the replacement for Alonso.

But not neccesarily the worst signing regarding his playing capabilities. But How he passed his medical, I I will never know.
I think Lpool probably would want to sack the club doctor or physio who oversaw the Aquilani transaction.

This thread is so depressingly hilarious

:D

Ciggy, its very typical of you to start this thread. I admire that you are a very passionate supporter and your constant sarcastic, doom and gloom post's are only because you love the club so much.

But these kind of thread's dont benefit discussion at all. Its just another thread for people to be depressed in. Can we not spare a little optimism for a change? Or at least moan a little less about the situation we are in at the moment so much.. We have all been doing it for the past year and its getting a bit dull and annoying.
