Money isnt ruining the game as much, its raising the bar. Ok, you have teams like Chelsea and Man City who have spent a fortune but all that has done is put them on an equal footing to the other teams at the top. Man City, like Chelsea, will stop the daft amounts being spent and set them self a limit as they will soon realise, they will be losing too much money without getting the return they expect.
The biggest problem in the game for me are the people in charge. They appear to me to be the most corrupt in the game. UEFA, FIFA and the FA. They dont have the respect for the game. The amount of rules they have introduced have the referees confused. And it shows in matches. During the world cup, the referees looked like jokers. Clueless as to the decisions made, or should be made. Common sense has gone. The referees are trying to adhere to the letter the rules in place, but so often they get it wrong. For instance, what happened to the giving the attacking side the benefit of the doubt regarding offside. Thats never happened. Or the divers get yellow cards. Its rare that happens.
I also agree on the decisions the big clubs get, including Liverpool. The lower teams have lost out so many times as they were "unlucky" with the referees decisions. Nonsense, its pure bias. The game would be improved immensely if the cheaters were punished. If you dive, its a red card. 3 match ban.
The authorities can improve the game, but for so many reasons, they wont.
Bill Shankly: “I was the best manager in Britain because I was never devious or cheated anyone. I’d break my wife’s legs if I played against her, but I’d never cheat her.”
