I have been noticing lately that the "Zonal system" can apply in many walks of life with equal success as at LFC's recent set pieces.
E.g. in a busy pub on Sky match night it appears that each barperson will have a "zone", but drifting in at the far post will leave you completely un-noticed and you never can get served there these days.
In said boozer, most things are "zonal" these days...it is odd, but only the best-looking girls are marked man-for-man ... Funny, that.
.. meanwhile in the curry house for a bit of after-hours drinking after the match, the "non-smoking zone" doesn't work either ... and if the waiters aren't sure whose zone you're in, well you can forget that jug of water ....
Then here at work there is the new million pound "help zone" but none of helpers can actually get my students a student card that works. Ditto the "computing help zone".
Meanwhile as the new term kicks in, the room allocation system appears to have gone zonal too. The person responsible for room allocations can tell me more or less that I might have a room somewhere around 212 .. but not actualy room 212 .. it might be booked ... you could always try 211 & 213 ...
.. anyone else any stories of "zonal systems" in action ..?
