Jesus fernandez saez - Our next hero?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Spanish contract rules prevent young players from being tied down properly which has helped English club poach top talent in the past – Fabregas and Gerard Pique are great examples – and Liverpool raced in to secure Suso back in the summer before Real Madrid or Barcelona could agree a fee with Cadiz.

A number of tags are already being put on Suso – if you believe the hype then he’s the next Fabregas, the next Iniesta and the next Xavi. A more rounded view came from his coach at Cadiz who described Suso as an extremely talented midfielder with great passing, crossing and dribbling skills although he lacks a degree of pace. He’s played for Cadiz’s youth teams as a left midfielder but his skills seem to indicate that he would suit being a central midfielder who is capable of driving forward and leading attacks – which is why he is said to be so much like Iniesta and Fabregas.

Suso has spent this season so far with Cadiz still to get him a bit more experience in Spain before his move to Liverpool but his arrival will take place at the beginning of January and fans are very eager to see how the teenager will fare playing for the Reds youth team with the belief already being that he’ll be the biggest hero at the club since Robbie Fowler – which is saying a lot for Suso!

Granted the expectations are higher than they should be on such a young player and many players who are tipped to be the next someone fail to reach the potential they have been deemed to have but Suso has impressed in every game he has played in so far and the interest in him from both Segura and Spain’s biggest clubs has led to massive expectation. With that in mind it wouldn’t be surprising to see Suso step into the Liverpool first team much earlier than you would expect from a youngster and the teenager could soon show just what he’s capable of for the boys from Anfield and anticipation couldn’t be higher for the young man.

This is the lad Rafa signed that most of you probably forgot about! He should arrive pretty soon since he is now old enough to join us.

Well lets just hope this hype over him is true  :buttrock

Pongolle was a really good player and one that we should have kept hold off.
Behind Torres he would be comfortably our best striker if he was here now.

Can't disagree re Pongolle, he was more than adequate as a super-sub and decent starter. He may not have scored many pongoals but he scored a few crucial ones and made a difference, played his part in Rafa's two (major) trophies.

vs Tottenham (League Cup) : equalised in extra time, we won on penalties and reached the final

vs Olympiakos (Champions League) : came on at HT for bambi on ice, scored the opening goal almost right away. Pretty crucial to the result, the result getting us through

vs Southampton (Premiership) : scored the only goal of the game, crucial in the context of the game and he only scored four goals that season

vs Betis (Champions League) : opened the scoring away to Betis

vs Luton (FA Cup) : came on in the 57th minute for momo at 1-3 down, scored within five minutes and put us ahead in the 74th minute. We could so easily have lost that game, might have made winning on penalties in the final that bit more impossible

Again he only scored four in 05/06, three of them pretty important. He didn't really get a fair crack of the whip, maybe he wasn't going to be prolific but he showed he could score.

All that said he's been far from prolific in Spain, 22 in 69 apps for Recreative Huelva and 5 in 30 for Atletico according to wikipedia. Who did Houllier claim he was the next............? Henry? Anelka?

i'll stand by what i said about pongolle, he looked a good player at the start, but he never was tough enough in my eyes, probably why he did better in spain

Well, we're talking about a 15 year old player here, and he hasn't played in the Cadiz first football team yet, who will visit my town this saturday.

I've dug a bit in the Cadiz surroundings, and I've found a site they have, "the yellow channel" in which they talk about Suso today

http://www.canalamarillo.com/noticia....06.html

In which he says, that he'll come to Liverpool on January the 12th or 13th, he has to be in Melwood at 9.00 am, where he'll have breakfast, and he'll receive a technical class. He plans to study english in the afternoon, and he plans to finnish the high school there too.

The article says that the signing has costed about 40.000€, which could be 800.000€ based on objectives, which are not specified.

He'll join other Spanish there such as Dani Ayala, Manuel Mendi and Durán.

---

I don't know mates, let's watch the lad first.

we could do with a Jesus about now
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

Right ive finally got word of what happened to this kid :D

He is officially our player now but he is staying on loan with Cadiz untill the end of the season.

Rafa rates this kid very highly, apparently he's going to put him straight into the reserves.

Got some news on this lad!

Roy sent him home from training earlier on today because he wants him to come back at 3pm to train with the seniors! He is also gonna be flying out with the squad heading for Germany so we might se him in the friendly match vs Gladbach.

Not bad for a 16 year old kid eh?

That'll be a great morale boost for the lad and many others in the reserves/youth team.

Look forward to seeing him soon i hope!
