Dudek is mediocre

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I can't understand how dudek has lasted so long at Liverpool. He can't catch, kick, command his area and clearly doesn't have the respect of the now disfunctional Hyypia and Carragher.

Just one final thing, what is it with that bloody role after an easy save for the cameras?

Iknow Kirkland is an injury jinx but there are better keepers out there, Robinson 2.5m enough said.

Kirkland in my opinion should now be given his chance!
And i quite agree Robinson for 2.5m was an absolute bargain!

people seem to forget that dudek was a massive difference in comparison to westerveld. Westerveld was better than James, etc etc etc

We have a habit of taking top level goalkeepers and reducing them to goo in the space of a couple of seasons. You'd have to go back as far a clemence to find a time when we had a reasonably solid keeper and even then he wasn't the strongest.

Dodgy keeping is part of the Liverpool way :)

How good a keeper looks also depends on how strong the defence is

He was awesome when we first signed him, but at the moment I think he's a weak link in the team.

I'm not sure what Kirkland's form in the reserves has been like, but if it's at least reasonably solid then I can't see him being kept out of the first 11 for too much longer.

I lost confidence in Duddie but following the Greek game I think he got a raw deal there. the whole team played terrible and so why should I single him out for worse treatment than the others.

If you view him in terms of how many mistakes he makes then he failing but if yer change yer mindset and think of him in comparison to the other keepers then he isnt the worse by any means.

Raf obviously feels (or did once) that he was the best keeper and i still think he has fashes of inspiration.

Originally he was down to join Arsenal, when Wenger wanted him.

Dudek is very shaky, but then, the central defence is nothing to shout about either. With such a slow and lumbering defenders, made worse by their zonal system and compounded by their inability to snuff out threats early, we'd be sitting ducks against supreme predators like the Schevchenkos and Mackaays of the top euro clubs. No chance in hell to survive the knockout stages. These guys need only half a chance to punish any mistakes/hesitantcies and their defenders are as miserly as scrouge.

Got to improve, by hook or by crook.

Dudek is a top keeper but is low on confidence and his nerve seems to have gone these days. When he was first signed he looked a world beater and was full of confidence. He never really recovered after them terrible blunders he made against Forlan and a couple of others 2 seasons ago.

What is it with the constant critiscism of dudek, he is a class keeper and in my opinion one of the best in the world. He's an excellent shotstopper and good at coming off his line (unlike kirkland who stays glued to it). Okay he may be prone to the odd error but who isn't, just look at howard at man u, he may be a dirty manc t****** but you have to admit he is an excellent keeper and look at the mistakes hes made this year.

If it comes down to a choice dudek or kirkland i know who i'd choose every time. As for paul robinson don't talk ****** to say he is better than dudek is laughable.

Rob i dont mean to be critical of him and a agree with some of your points but one thing that is clear about Dudek is he is not commanding when coming off his line and comminication with his defence has been terrible so far this season. Against Monaco there were 2 instances where he should quite clearly have gathered the ball but was waiting on Carra to clear when they were quite clearly balls he should have taken. Like i say i still think he is a great keeper but we need more presence than him.

the fact of the matter is, kirkland would be number one if he didn't break his leg everytime he steps out of the bath or break his arm changing the tv channel. :p

I think there is a curse on all the goalkeepers we seem to get. And when they leave us, suddenly they become good (brad fridel, westerveld).

Now is the time to put kirkland in the team. Dudek handling can induce heart attack....

i always thought it was something to do with joe corrigan. when he was the goalkeeping coach, every keeper we had seemed to have a blinding start to their career and then just fall to pieces. :(
