After watching "that" rooney hattrick i noticed some simalarities, the way he stepped up to the free kick, that long shot...

Reminded me of a golden era Fowler. His simple movement, strength on the ball, eye for goal and confidence made me shove my "Fowlers Top 100" goals video into my VCR.. and let me just say, the comparison is uncanny.

drogba has played EVERY GAME for chelsea and scored four goals. cisse didn't start against bolton or yesterday, and every time he has started, he's been subbed. however he's still scored 3 goals. that's 1 goal less in a lot less game time.

so if you look at it like that yeah drogba's easily twice as good.

dimwit

The plain fact that Cisse has not played a whole game say's it all.

Rooney is the best talent I have ever seen at his age in over 20 years of following the game.

There is some similarities to a young Fowler in his shooting ability but Rooney's all round game is fantastic and better than Fowler's.

I think kindaconfused's point was that Man UTD spend a hell of a lot of money on one player who looks like he will deliver the goods whereas we spend a lot of money on forwards always hoping that they live up to their "potential".

John Toshak claims that Cisse and Ibrahomovich will be the best two centre forwards in the world within the next two or three years, which is encouraging as Toshak is a very good judge of player (he gave Alonso his debut at Soceidad and he signed Rivaldo for Deportivo), but I'd love to see us buying in a proven player, like Bayern did with Mackaay.

Mackaay's first goal last night was absolutely top bracket stuff.

Good point, you pay full price for proven talent and half price for potential talent.
QED. one Drogba equals two Cisse's. or
       one Rooney equals two Cisse's

But has'nt Cisse had as much opportunity to prove his talent as Rooney and Drogba ?

Drogba is a bit of a freak footballer.

He was a nobody in Frace until 12 months ago, and a nobody in Europe until 9 months ago.

Rooney is a once in a generation player.

It's a pity GH didn't look at Drogba after he gave Carragher the brush-off in the Marsailles game.

On the topic of value:
Owen (Proven Talent)for £8m + Nunez, say £12m equals Cisse (Potential Talent) for £14m.

I am not sure that we at LFC, have our act together in the buying and selling department, we seem to sanction too many risky 'potential' purchases at 'top price' and sell our proven talent at below 'Parkers Guide' prices. :blues:
