Zara, you're having a laugh.  Messi IS probably the best player in the world but he didn't do nearly enough to live up to that rep this tournament, let alone 'prove it by a mile.'

The player of the tournament for me so far is Xavi, who is doing what he does best: pull the strings for Spain.  Lots of contenders, though, including a couple of his teammates but overall I'd say that Messi had a disappointing tournament.

I think Sneijder will be odds on for the Ballon D'or. Xabi probably in close 2nd though.

Since when has frenchman passing out become headline news? How times change... :D

Messi prooved best player in the world? In THIS world cup???

The spanish, germans and dutch have great team ethic (not including spainsh attacking where no noe passes) and that has made this world cup. I have stuck with Spain throughout, and they will prevail tomorrow.. should be a great game but expect lots of simulation and Webb has his work cut out

messi is only there  because fifa don't want to admit that all the so called superstars were rubbish.

Gyan is only there as a token - see south park for details.

alonso and muller were much better.

Messi is a good player but even he under performed. If a few flashes of dribbling is all it takes to confirm you are the best in the world then I might be in with a shout too. :D

Imo the winner will be Sniejder or Xavi. Probably Sneijder as he won :censored: loads with Inter this season too.
