New Manager - Who would you have? (merged thread)

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Woollyback » Tue Jun 29, 2010 1:58 pm

i'm not sure what to think about hodgson. i think he's a decent manager but i'm not convinced he's got the hunger and drive for the liverpool job. the problems at our club run very deep indeed and even if we got the finest manager in the universe there's not going to be a quick fix. it'll be a long hard slog for anyone to turn us around and back to winning ways

my biggest worry is that the yanks & purslow see him as a yes man who's just there to do as he's told, as opposed to rafa who rocked the boat by being his own man. if we lose gerrard & torres then we're fooked, because hodgson will get about about 10p of it to spend on replacements

i'm quite happy to give hodgson time to see what he's capable of, but i can't say i'm looking forward to the new season eager to see him at anfield

and what happens to kenny now? surely his position is untenable knowing he went for the job and got knocked back by that ersehole purslow?

yes or no

(and say sg and torres stay)

I would have to ask where the money has come from seeing we are in debt and going to loose more money

Sale of Mascherano, Babel, Riera, Lucas (please...)??

Even Rafa got some funds whilst we were heavily in debt.

It's an unanswerable question.

None one can answer this.

Under the same conditions, with the same squad as last season I would expect Roy to be more succesful than Rafa and achieve a higher place than 7th.

That squad will change, as squads always do over the summer. Had Rafa stayed, he may well have walked out anyway when twit and tw@t sell players behind his back.

We have no money whoever the manager is. If Roy has the same squad, then I think he would be able to finish higher than 7th.

If he doesn't have the same squad, it depends on a lot of things. If there is a fire-sale, and no money to reinvest - then it doesn't matter if it's Roy, Rafa, Jose or Mother Theresa in charge, we probably wont finish higher than 7th

What's your point?

Rafa's Liverpool dropped from 2nd to 7th

So who would you have in charge?

It would be easier talking to the blo.ody mirror!!!!

For the I don't know how manyeth time it depends what he is given to do the job! Surely? So that question CANNOT be answered yet.

If you ask me:

Could/Would Hodgson have done a better job last season with the players Rafa had at his disposal my answer would be YES.

Could Hodgson do a better job with the same players going into this season compared to Rafa? Again my anser would be YES.

I was very fond of Rafa, I respect everything he has done at the club and was sad to see him go. I'm scared what the owners will do re: selling our best players now that Rafa is gone but PURELY for footballing reasons the club were right to make a change. Whether it's the right one only time will tell. It could be complete disaster buts that the beauty of football. I think we're all pis...sed off and dreading the new season to be honest.

You have done nothing but insult people in this thread so I would suggest if you have nothin worthwhile to add then refrain from posting as your adding nothing to the discussion

How can people suggest that woy could of done a better job when nothing he has achieved previously suggests as such - the guy has had no high level success at all .

So we get 35 million from player sales yet have to replace 4 or 5 squad players - how many top class players can you get from 35 million ? One and at a stretch 2 and which of these top players will come into a club in our situation
