There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Dont understand why Purslow doesnt just put a job advert in the Echo: 'Wanted: Manager....'.

I mean he's as about as subtle as a sledgehammer.

Purslow should be first out the door when the club gets sold he has mismanaged the recruitment of a new manager and is now floundering around for any old name in Europe.

Its says alot when the two top managers who he is supposed to have inqired about are on good contracts within stable clubs and have not got a chance of signing, Deschamps and Riikaard , Its also says alot when the likes of Pellagrini is club free, no commitments, good manager and is being overlooked, and then you have  Roy,
Christie knows what he is doing here , trying to f,ucking kid us into thinking hes going after a top manager who in reality he has no chance of bringing here ,but all the time them two him and that Broughton know they only want somone here who will say YES, NOT ROCK ANY BOATS

That does worry me.  This stories linking us with other managers could be just bogus leaks to make us think the club are actually doing something productive in looking for a new Manager.

Because the media love an underdog and so do fans, even though the Euro Disney adventure featured teams who finished outside the top six of their respective leagues in the final, semis, QFs and last sixteen.

Impressed? You shouldn't be, and nor should people who are happy to SETTLE FOR Woy be either. Somehow the media and pundits have dressed him up as a miracle worker for doing something with Fulham who have been in the top flight for a season shy of TEN so not exactly first timers.

Funnily enough Fulham's average top flight finish in the Premiership is 13th, only one position lower than Woy managed. Sure 7th under him was their best, but they were by no means scraping relegation every season before he arrived and nor are they complete paupers.

Seven teams have been ever-present in the Premiership, only eight other teams have spent longer in the Premiership than Fulham.

Woy could well be the next Souness, that is how concerned I am about his candidacy, and if that means I have to keep repeating my concerns well tough titties to anyone who doesn't want to hear them. I care about LFC and anyone who does should be worried about a mid-table manager being brought in instead of one who is capable of winning league titles and has been contesting them in other leagues. I'd take a runner-up in any other league over mid-table mediocrity.

Rumours had us linked with Deschamps and allegedly told "hands off". I also read that there are three names in the running, Woy is one of them and Kenny is not :no I hear the dog turd is out of the running, it refused to fly on the plane back from South Africa when asked to sit next to Woy

Marseilles president Jean-Claude Dassier has revealed Liverpool have contacted him about Didier Deschamps, but he has told them they have no chance of tempting the Ligue 1 winning coach away from Stade Velodrome.

Speculation has been rife over who will take charge at Anfield since Rafael Benitez left the club at the beginning of the month, with Kenny Dalglish and Roy Hodgson among the current frontrunners.

However, Dassier claims Deschamps is the man Liverpool want.

“It’s true, Liverpool’s executive director, Christian Purslow, called me Thursday morning,” he told L’Equipe. “He speaks French very well, is very polite.

“I was expecting his call because I had heard of Liverpool’s interest in Didier. He asked me if I would allow him to meet Didier and (agent) Jean-Pierre Bernes.

“I replied that I would never forbid anyone from meeting whoever. I also kindly indicated to him that there wasn’t the slightest chance for him to pinch our coach. Even in his dreams.”

Deschamps’ contract runs out at the end of next season and he is yet to sign an extension.

However, Dassier is confident of keeping the former Marseilles midfielder.

He continued: “With Didier, we have a trusting relationship. I hope he will commit himself to us for another year. I’m not worried.

SSN are reporting that Deschamps has already knocked Liverpool back. He wants to stay with Marseille.

It wouldnt surprise me only last month he did say he would see out his contract plus I think he wants to see what he can do with his championship winning side in the CL.

Let's do some very public tapping up, like all the other clubs do.

That said our last French manager was apparently a failure, as in the "Rafa is the only LFC manager not to be a failure since Kenny". His (Houllier's) record compares against Rafa's, but neither looked likely to win the Premiership

well my mate told me that Sammy Lee told him it would be a "BIG SURPRISE" and I believe it to to be the truth. Bearing that in mind, I don't think it will be Hodgson. I do think he is a good manager and a decent football man who doesn't deserve all the abuse coming his way (I mean does it really matter if manager wares sunglasses, I've heard it all now) but I don't think it will be him.

My first choice is Martin O'Neill. He's an excellent manager who I think would get us back into the top four at the first attempt. That is going to be no mean feat as history tells us that jumping up from 7th to 4th isn't easy in the EPL, but I reckon he'd do it. He won cups with Leicester and there's not that many managers that can say that.

Whoever it will be, roy, mcleish, oneill or whatever, we still have to back the new manager, even if we think he isn't good enough or it is a disgraceful decision to appoint from the club. I have my opinion on the managers we are linked, I don't think Pellegrini is the right man for the job as Scott said he is another Juande Ramos. I would take Hodgson over him because of his premiership experience, plus Pellegrini isn't as good as people say he is!

Kenny Dalglish will be my prefered choice, but Purslow doesn't care :(
