New Manager - Who would you have? (merged thread)

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Boodiddy i have told you already why i dont want him .in my opinion he is just simply not good enough.

At the moment Hodgson is flavour of the month,  how many other managers have been in the same position gone on to bigger clubs with better players and failed ,

Curbishly media darling a few years ago went on to West ham dearly destroyed them. take your pic of other media flavour of the months, there are a few,
Answer me honestly would you have brought him here after he got jibbed at Blackburn. Why all of a sudden is he good enough for this club with one Europa cup final under his belt,
We should not be lowering our sights im afraid, and anyway i think that any manager who comes here and gets more than a twelve month contract means them two arnt going nowhere,
do you want the likes of Robert Ernshaw here , Roy is a big fan of hes , tried to sign him a few times i believe, but the timing wasnt right,
At the end of the day in my eyes He is not good enough to manage this club, and his name wouldnt of even been getting talked about if it wasnt for the twa.ts that we have in charge or a big up from the media, If he is that good how come England never earmarked him for the job there, How come Chelsea overlooked him and appointed Ancelloti, Why didnt City say here are Roy lad sign there instead of Mancini, And yet hes good enough for us .

At this point you may as well put all the names in this thread on bits of paper and throw them in the air. No one has a clue. Tomorrow a new name will emerge and we will all go toward that. If Purslow is looking to put people off the scent then hes doing a fine job, alternitavely hes not a scooby either and is randomly making calls to try and get a nod from at least one football manager with a half decent reputation.

Rafa has hit out at Christian Purslow for his exit.

The more I find out about Purslow, the less I like him, he is like a sea serpent.

We will get a top manager. Its just frustrating waiting as they try and sort it out thats all. Some good people linked with the job and they will give one a contract but the speculations a pain just now when we want it resolved.

Liverpool approach Didier Deschamps to be their next managerMarseilles’s coach Didier Deschamps
June 26 2010 10:07AM

Marseilles president Jean-Claude Dassier has revealed Liverpool have contacted him about Didier Deschamps, but he has told them they have no chance of tempting the Ligue 1 winning coach away from Stade Velodrome.

Speculation has been rife over who will take charge at Anfield since Rafael Benitez left the club at the beginning of the month, with Kenny Dalglish and Roy Hodgson among the current frontrunners.

However, Dassier claims Deschamps is the man Liverpool want.

“It’s true, Liverpool’s executive director, Christian Purslow, called me Thursday morning,” he told L’Equipe. “He speaks French very well, is very polite.

“I was expecting his call because I had heard of Liverpool’s interest in Didier. He asked me if I would allow him to meet Didier and (agent) Jean-Pierre Bernes.

“I replied that I would never forbid anyone from meeting whoever. I also kindly indicated to him that there wasn’t the slightest chance for him to pinch our coach. Even in his dreams.”

Deschamps’ contract runs out at the end of next season and he is yet to sign an extension.

However, Dassier is confident of keeping the former Marseilles midfielder.

He continued: “With Didier, we have a trusting relationship. I hope he will commit himself to us for another year. I’m not worried.

“It’s true also that Didier is flattered to see a great European club interested in him.”

Deschamps is regarded as one of Europe’s best young managers and has had an impressive start to his career since taking over the reins at Monaco in 2001.

He steered them side to the Coupe de la Ligue title just two years after taking his first managerial post and led them to the Champions League final the following season

The former France international, who won the World Cup and European Championship in an illustrious playing career, then helped Juventus to the Serie B title in his one season at the Bianconeri.

The 41-year-old took charge at Marseilles last summer and led them to their first Ligue 1 title in 18 years.

It says a lot that Purslow is so desperate to avoid having to appoint Hodgson or Pellegrini he had to approach Marseille to speak to Deschamps. Purslow should be first out the door when the club gets sold he has mismanaged the recruitment of a new manager and is now floundering around for any old name in Europe.

I understand people being worried, i am also.

What i dont get is the - who is knocking down our door comments.

When has that ever happened with any appointment ?

If we are approaching a manager with a club already then they are hardly going to come out and do that to their own fans.
I am certain that we are still very appealing to managers despite the shocking situation with the owners.

Time will tell if i am being naive.

Its says alot when the two top managers who he is supposed to have inqired about are on good contracts within stable clubs and have not got a chance of signing, Deschamps and Riikaard , Its also says alot when the likes of Pellagrini is club free, no commitments, good manager and is being overlooked, and then you have  Roy,
Christie knows what he is doing here , trying to f,ucking kid us into thinking hes going after a top manager who in reality he has no chance of bringing here ,but all the time them two him and that Broughton know they only want somone here who will say YES, NOT ROCK ANY BOATS
