Agreed. He is a world cup winner and had a just had a decent season. I think he still has some to learn but I wouldn't mind him here at all. Hope this true. He knows what it is to win and that's what counts! It's a big step up for though him imo

First i have heard about him ?

I dont know enough about him to really have an opinion.
By that i mean in a coaching capacity.
What sort of football he likes to play and what systems etc ?

Looks like my mate who works at Wembley was on the money after all. Sammy Lee told him this week that he knew the identity of the new manager, he couldn't tell him who it was but that it would be a BIG surprise and that the press were wide of the mark.

I say the same thing about Deschamps as I do about Roy Hodgson. Lets give the fella a good chance. That doesn't mean till christmas, it doesn't mean despairing before he's even joined the club, and it doesn't mean mocking the bloke and the way he speaks (all this Woy stuff) before he's even joined the club. I hated the "fat Spanish waiter" stuff and these attempts to belittle a good and respected manager within the game are shameful in exactly the same way. I don't like managers getting personal abuse, I like it when people talk about their football achievements. To be totally honest, considering we supposedly have the best fans in the world, one or two comments I've heard on the phone ins and on forums have been disgraceful.

Anyway if it's Deschamps, lets give the bloke at least three or four seasons to see what he's got. Rafa got four trophyless seasons, so lets give the new bloke a decent crack of the whip. I don't know much about him as a manager, but he was a good player, a top player, and he's been around the bock a few times. It doesn't bother me that he's French either. Houllier won lots of trophies and left behind a team of which nearly all played in the Champions League success. It was time for him to go at the end just like it was time for Benitez to go, but they both can hold their heads high at having done a reasonable job overall.

Looks like they are making random calls to clubs in the hope they can bag a manager. I am losing count now on the number of names linked with the job. Yesterady its Rijkaard today Deschamps. No doubt Purslow is thumbing through the yellow pages as we speak looking for someone else to call.

Deschamps seems a decent replacement.

The sooner, the better though as we need to get the ball rolling for the Summer signing(s),
irrespective of how much we will have to spend.

Deschamps - good track record. Don't know much about the styl of his team's play but the results are certainly impressive. We could do a lot worse. Whatever it is, him or Roy, they should get everyone's backing and not just for the first six games. The fact that he's French is irrelevant. He's a World Cup winner and a proven manager. He's earned respect in the game. Also seems to specialise in turning around club's fortunes. [B]

Great great player Deschamps, no feck all about him as a coach though .Anyway lets all be honest here . ROY FECKIN HODGSON WOULD BE A BACKWARDS STEP . He's SHABITE .

Deschamps had OM playing 4-2-3-1 mainly. They played decent stuff. On the floor with full backs bombing forward. Decent playmaker in the side with skillfull players in wide positions. His very much still learning but for so far his done pretty well in management. What he did at OM was very good as that job has been a poison chalice for many a Manager. Biggest club in france who kept underachieving. To win 2 trophies in his first year was a great success.

What players did he sign himself ?

Lucho Gonzales from Porto was a very good signing. His the playmaker. Dont know he never made the Argentinan squad.

Heinze, Diawara, Stéphane Mbia, Morientes (never played lol) and he one important thing he did do was get Ben Arfa playing. Ben Arfa is very very talented but hasnt managed to fulfill his potential. Deschamps finally seems to have cracked the code in getting him performing on a weekly basis.

This is more like it, we want one of these managers that have proven themselves but arent really a big name.

Deschamps would be an interesting choice and I would be willing to give him a chance. Would rather him than Hodgson or O'neill anyways
