To answer the earlier question, I thought the Klinnsmann affair was much ado about nothing. The manager was making noises about wanting to jump ship, so any self respecting owner would cover their backs should it come to pass. In many respects, I found it a bit of double standards how many fans criticised the board for making contingency plans with Klinnsmann, but then jumped up and down when we didn't employ a manager immediately we got rid of Benitez. This is even when a World Cup is on. Nobody has signed any players or taken on any new managers, so it's not that surprising that we are taking our time.

In conclusion, the Klinnsmann thing was a non story. Very similar to Rafa being appointed Inter Milan manager within a day or two of being sacked by Liverpool. Obviously he had been talking to them while he was still our manager even though he denied it, but fair play to him what would anyone expect him to do? Non story.

Lynds I don't particularly want Hodgson in the hot seat myself (although i don't think he'll do a bad job tbh) but what I can see (read) is a lot of fans, many of whom (yourself included) who were VERY patient and supportive when Rafa was in charge, right till the end, and even more so now. But it seems that should Hodgson get the nod (and the press seem to think it's nailed on), he will not get anywhere near the patience or support dished out so freely to Rafa by many despite his obvious mistakes. It seems very imbalanced to me. In NORMAL circumstances at a normal club of our stature, based on football reasons alone, Rafa deserved to go. It's as simple as that to me. But because he's a stubborn little bugger (and I love him for it) who would have remained a thorn in the owners side had he stayed it has massively influenced the way he is regarded (seems to be nearing martyr-like status) and it renders Hodgson (or whoever's) job nigh on impossible should he be offered the position. The guy doesn't stand much of a chance if he's given the job does he? Already ridiculed as 'Woy' by the majority, and yet this could be the very man managing our great club in a couple of weeks time.

It seems to be regarded as indisputable (by some) that Rafa would do a better job than Hodsgon (given the same personnel) next season and I don't necessarily buy that.

Take away the ownership situation for one minute, and by that I mean the fact we're all scared it's so much easier for them to sell our best players now Rafa is gone. Take that away for one moment, and I know that's difficult, but purely from a football perspective, I think we're better off with another manager. And if Hodgson comes in and he can keep Torres (and fingers crossed Stevie although I think we'll lose him) and spend a decent chunk of monies generated then I'd be very surprised if he doesn't better our last season tally by some margin.

I think the thing that most fans are MOST scared of right now is losing Torres and losing Gerrard. We're scared because if we lose them we are on a downward spiral to nowhere, I know that's how I feel, i'm petrified Fernando will be sold. We want a big name manager to come in because if he does, the chances of them staying seems far higher because a big name may (and should) demand they stay if he comes in. And I think THAT, more than Hodgson's managerial record, is why so many are ridiculing the prospect of him becoming our manager.

Just to add to the Torres/Gerrard situation, the prospects of playing in the UEFA cup is hardly extrinsically motivating stuff now is it.

Whoever comes in is going to be tested immediately, we have a rough start to the season. Hopefully the fans won't call for the manager's head if we don't come out guns blazing.. unfortunately I think they will.

Unfortunalty Zara Amanda stavely was on BBC radio 4 yesterday and said that any interest from the middle east into premier league clubs has all but died a death they are no longer interested and thats a big blow for us considering she worked with the Abu Dhabi group and barclays

LFC 2007 where does it say Roys back in SA and why did he come back to the UK for 24 hours? thats if he did like?

Dunno doll.. if they're are smoke screens being put up to protect the ID of the new owner, all sorts could be said.

Regardless who the manager is, and unfortunately the owners are leaving it so long people are already building dislikes for the names being linked ie Woy, I and other real LFC fans - matchgoing or otherwise - will back the manager for at least one season.

That isn't to say it's one season, do or die. It's just that we can't accept a really disastrous season of poor spending, maybe further down the league and flunked in every cup. It CAN get worse, the new manager needs to show some signs of having what it takes and given the current set of players, he should be top six really - even in his first season.

But as I say, the dragging is making more and more talk of certain managers and if they're going to take their time over it, at least make it someone better than Woy ffs. We've had one manager called Roy, we don't need another until one of quality equal to or better than Roy Evans comes along.

you have to back the manager. Some of the nonesense on here about backing roy till christmas! Unreal and bang out of order. Hes a good manager and better than any pelligrini, MON, erickson etc.

Leave the team and manager alone and focus hayred to our owners. Regardless of what people think of rafa's era, its over. For me he entrenched himself in too much politics at the club.

We must back roy, frank or whoever takes over at this club. If i here anyone spouting :censored:

about him or singing about rafa in matches at anfield this season. If i can get close enough, i'll whack em!

2. he got a fulham team to the uefa final
3. he's got a chance to manage a decent team with world class backbone of players in Gerrard, Torres, Reina, agger, Johnson etc.
4. He's British
5. he'll have fresh ideas
6. last manager to win the league at this club was british

he's to be given a fair crack of that whip really, this could be the start of stabalising this ship with an Englishman at the helm - JUST LIKE WE USED TO HAVE THROUGH THE GOOD OLD DAYS!

Deschamps is regarded as one of Europe's best young managers and has had an impressive start to his career since taking over the reins at Monaco in 2001.

He steered the principality side to the Coupe de la Ligue title just two years after taking his first managerial post and led them to the Champions League final the following season.

The former France international, who won the World Cup and European Championship in an illustrious playing career, then helped Juventus to the Serie B title in his one season at the Bianconeri.

The 41-year-old took charge at Marseille last summer and led them to their first Ligue 1 title in 18 years.

I would be happy with Deschamps but dont think it will happen. He will stay at OM for at least one more season and make a crack at the CL. The guy done a grat job at OM delivering the the title and league cup. First title in 17 years. Took Monaco to a CL final as well.

I dont understand why we seem to want to talk to the likes of Deschamps, Rijkaard, Pelligrini and then end up with someone like Hodgson.
