When Houllier was sacked Moores & Parry had a list consisting of MON, Rafa, Mourhino, Strachan, Curbishley.
Thats two world class managers on that list and we got one of them, this list consists of Kenny, Hodgeson, Sven, Pellegrini and Rijkaard. The worst name on this list is Hodgeson yet he maybe our manager today.
like it or lump it Ciggy its down to the club talking too much time in letting Rafa go.
big named managers held off as long as they could in taking other jobs to see if the liverpool job was going to come up, other jobs come up before the liverpool one so they took them.
at the start of the year JM said he wished to comeback to England, he club he hinted at was Liverpool but we was never going to be able to give him the spending power he was looking for.
Come on Lakes you really dont believe that do you?
The club could not offer Mourhino any sort of transfer budget he would require and he is the only big named manager that has swapped clubs, what other managers are you talking about that have joined clubs over the last few months? The board knew exactly what they where doing sacking Rafa AFTER Mourhino had joined Real Madrid. They waited until rafa was on holiday to tell him to pack his bags, the season finished weeks before he was sacked and it was always there intention to sack him once the season was finished.
I am 100% against Hodgeson 100%.
yes you are right it was always intention to sack him once the season was finished. and most knew that from before xmas..........and thats what i had been trying to tell you all but the problem with that it gave other managers chance to get new contracts and get other jobs, you are right we was never going to be able to come up withthe cash for Mourhino to spend so his name was left out around March.
I getthe feeling the club put their hopes in MON coming to the club.
Hodgeson in my view will only be a temp manager at this club a firefighter, he will come in and cut the dead wood out of the club. apart from that i dont know what other results we could get from him.
I dont think he could win the prem with us but you never know, he seems very good at build up team spirit and that counts when you are playing the smaller clubs.
I posted to Bav this morning that Hodgeson has had lots of meetings with the club over the last few days, one of them clashed with him being on the bbc world cup show so he called off the bbc thing.
the club HAS NOT shutthe doors on the other managers but come monday we could have the new manager.
