It's been 15 years since Blackburn won the league so I dont' think Kenny is the man for the job. Leave the great man enjoy his time.

"BBC Sport understands that Dalglish is unlikely to play a role in the future management of the club, and the Reds are happy for Benitez's assistant Sammy Lee to take the reins until after the World Cup if necessary, and BBC Sports news correspondent Dan Roan says whoever gets the job is only likely to have a summer transfer budget of £10-15m"

Really saddened by this news.  I thought that Rafa would at least hold on for one more yr.

I just wish him success and hapiness at another club.  Thank you for all you've done Rafa, Adios. :(

I told you all , I told you all ... the owners got extra money to spend to buy new players ... but they won't give to Rafa ... only to the new manager ...

Benitez was given a hell of a contract by the owners which afforded him a multi million pound payoff to be dismissed that was generous in the extreme. Hes had a lot to deal with but make no mistake hes no walking away empty handed or a broken man by any means. No doubt a significant job offer is just around the corner for Benitez with a millionaires lifestyle in Milan beckoning. Good luck to the fella but I wouldnt be getting too bleary eyed about his departure.

Ditto really.

Have to admit I'm a lot more motivated and optimistic about next season with a new manager in place.
Hopefully there's some behind the scenes activity going on regarding new owners.
Even if it takes a while longer to finally get the no-marks out,
I'm sure the new manager will get a lot more out of the current squad than Rafa managed last season.
Hopefully he will have some money and the proceeds of selling the deadwood off to fill some of the glaring holes in the squad.
Good luck to Rafa, but I for one am glad hes gone and we can now look forward.

I don't think he would have turned it round. What annoys me though is how the club were happy to give him "the vote of confidence" throughout last season until the finish because it suited them to do so so as not to frighton off potential buyers but as soon as the word cup gets near and it's less damaging to the value of the club in early June they show him the door.

If there is any kind of transfer kitty available it was impossible to allow Benitez access to it after his recent efforts in the transfer market. We needed a fresh approach and someone who can motivate and get the best out of the lads we have on the books already. I dont think Rafa had that in him and the players looked unresponsive. Its not all doom and gloom though its easy to hang from the cross and play dead under the current regime. We do have some talented players but many have suffered a real loss of form and confidence under Benitez. We had to cut loose to move forward and the decision is absolutely the right one. I firmly beleive a new manager can motivate and re light the fires in some of our players and we can see light at the end of the tunnel. A new approach, a few new faces, wheel and deal, and the new campaign can be a bright one, certainly more colourful than the miserable performances and sceptic football we endured last year.

funny how Rafa was the one with the 'gun to our head' and wouldnt leave without his £16m payout isnt it. how much has he left for again?

lets hope the new guy has an impact, all of our good players are going to be linked everywhere now
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

God Bless You All
