Nope.  His pay off will include a gagging order for sure.  Wait for his book in five years time.

Sale of Alonso wasn't it, what is your point?

My point is that that money could and should have been spent better, that was the final nail in Rafa's coffin.

Quite a surprise that Kenny hasn't been named as caretaker.  I can only imagine this is because the season has just ended so they are waiting for applicants for the job and see who applies.  Paul Jewel anyone? ???

From liverpoolfc.tv

Liverpool FC today confirmed that Rafael Benitez is to leave the club by mutual consent.

Mr Benitez relinquishes his position as team manager after six years and the Board of Directors would like to place on record their grateful thanks for his services and wish him all the best in his future career.

The Board has now asked Managing Director Christian Purslow, with the assistance of Club Ambassador Kenny Dalglish, to begin a formal search to identify and assess potential candidates for the managerial position.

No timescale has been placed on the process and Liverpool FC will make no further statement until a new manager is appointed.

LFC Chairman Martin Broughton said: "Rafa will forever be part of Liverpool folklore after bringing home the Champions League following the epic final in Istanbul but after a disappointing season both parties felt a fresh start would be best for all concerned.''

Rafael Benitez said: "It is very sad for me to announce that I will no longer be manager of Liverpool FC. I would like to thank all of the staff and players for their efforts.

"I'll always keep in my heart the good times I've had here, the strong and loyal support of the fans in the tough times and the love from Liverpool. I have no words to thank you enough for all these years and I am very proud to say that I was your manager.

"Thank you so much once more and always remember: You'll never walk alone."

At last he's gone

Things can only get better now, I firmly believe that.

Get better? Now wait and see how the owners will now sell all our best players and drain as much cash to their pocket as possible. Then will just leave and leave us in a state of disarray. I really hope this will not happen but I wouldn't be surprised if the two Yanks will end up doing this.

I don't think so, the reason they sacked Rafa is because the club is unappealing under him, they want a sale and they want as much money as possible. That won't happen if they sell all the best players, they may be a pair of tw@ts but they aren't completely stupid.

Well I wanna see a manager here that has some emotions. I wanna see a manager that punches the air or jumps up and down when we score not turn to his backroom staff and shrug his shoulders like "what the fek did he put the ball in the net for? we've lost posession now cos of that!"

They are saying Kenny and Christian Purslow will together begin the process of looking for a new manager. From that we can probably assume that he wont be managing in any capacity... for now.

well we move on, hopefully new owners and manager this summer eh? lets start with the positives

I'm waiting for people to blame Rafa for taking ages leaving otherwise we'd have got Maureen

you are in for a shock mate, you eyes will fall out of your head when and if the truth ever comes out about Rafas years at our club, some of the things that have gone on are shocking on both sides.

Yes i am happy that Rafa has gone, I feel for him as he did love the club and spent time with the fans, but as i said from day one, he will never win the prem with us.

and i am not over the moon that this has come true.

Managers get fired/pushed to leave - that's football.

No shyt, Sherlock !

I'm referring to the absolute dysfunctional state of our club under the ownership of those two kun.ts; the fact we couldn't even sign a lad for 2M from north of the border, ffs; the fact that all our dirty linen is aired in public; the fact that a manager who has given his all for the club and was building for the future (unlike the shortsighted plans the two american rapists have for the club) was treated so disgustingly (Klinsmann, anyone ?); the lies, lies, and damned lies told time and time again....

I do believe Rafa has spent more time working as a phuckin; accountant balancing the books than that of a football manager...

So No, I expected him to be here for at least another 4 years....and minimum one more to get things right after last season in particular

hmm yet we managed to buy an injured unfancied Italian midfielder somehow and a vastly overpriced defender, weird isn't it.

Aquilani was never an unfancied footballer... he was in fact one of Roma's top prospects, an Italy international... Only his fitness was in doubt... we gambled and paid the price no doubt about it.

Overpriced defender is England's starting Right Back. The mancs pay 18-20 millions each for the likes of Hargreaves, Anderson and Nani... this is modern day football in the 21's century... get over it... Glen Johnson can hardly be called a mistake...

A lot of you are celebrating and it's sad to me.  A :censored: disgrace, really.  Time will tell if this decision was a good one, NO ONE on here can flat say that it is a good decision.  Thing is, I do think that Rafa may have been at his end here, but I find it very, very hard to see this glimmer of hope that so many of you do.  What have we got to look forward to, really?  The people in charge still, to this day, do not give a :censored: about the club.  What we do from now until the start of the season will dictate whether this was the right decision, who is to say who goes or who stays?  Who comes on as manager etc etc.  The celebration of Rafa's exit in the current state shows nothing but ignorance to me.  Sure you can agree with the decision but you've got to wonder what really is going to happen, no?  You can have your opinions and all but show some respect not only to Rafa, but other fellow posters.

Do you support Liverpool or Rafa?

personally Daws, in the current situation, Liverpool WITH Rafa is far more stable, thats my point

I think he's been awful this season, I won't even begin to argue with that but we're in a position now where we have owners looking to sell, no money and dodgy feckers in every corner. I could trust Rafa working in those circumstances and I dont trust the owners picking the new man

I'm hoping that this means there's new owners in the pipeline but I can't be too optimistic about it to be honest.

I honestly think this is only going to get worse

Though if the players did want him out then he had to go, though we can only speculate
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

Do you think he will say how much he regretted Fu*king up and wished he would have admitted his mistakes and accepted responsibility for the disastrous last season of his reign?
