That will be irony at its finest
Now is the time to stick together not fu'ck it off...

Totally agree, I think this will bring the fans together, unite them even more against the owners.

SS reporting Rafa entitled to £16 million, LFC wanted to pay £3 million, they compromised on £6 million.

Very well put mate.

From the Times:

Rafael Benitez has left his job as Liverpool manager by mutual consent.

Benitez’s position had been in doubt since it emerged that talks over his future with Martin Broughton and managing director Christian Purslow had broken down. The 50-year-old Spaniard, who had been in charge of Liverpool since 2004 and guided them to Champions League glory in 2005, admitted he was disappointed to be leaving.

“It is very sad for me to announce that I will no longer be manager of Liverpool FC. I would like to thank all of the staff and players for their efforts,” he said. “I’ll always keep in my heart the good times I’ve had here, the strong and loyal support of the fans in the tough times and the love from Liverpool.

“I have no words to thank you enough for all these years and I am very proud to say that I was your manager. Thank you so much once more and always remember: You’ll never walk alone.”

Martin Broughton, the Liverpool chairman, paid tribute to Benitez and thanked him for his years of dedication. “Rafa will forever be part of Liverpool folklore after bringing home the Champions League following the epic final in Istanbul but after a disappointing season both parties felt a fresh start would be best for all concerned.”

More news to follow.

Managers get fired/pushed to leave - that's football.

No shyt, Sherlock !

I'm referring to the absolute dysfunctional state of our club under the ownership of those two kun.ts; the fact we couldn't even sign a lad for 2M from north of the border, ffs; the fact that all our dirty linen is aired in public; the fact that a manager who has given his all for the club and was building for the future (unlike the shortsighted plans the two american rapists have for the club) was treated so disgustingly (Klinsmann, anyone ?); the lies, lies, and damned lies told time and time again....

I do believe Rafa has spent more time working as a phuckin; accountant balancing the books than that of a football manager...

So No, I expected him to be here for at least another 4 years....and minimum one more to get things right after last season in particular

What some on here don't realise is how much of a downward spiral this can become... how much of a Newcastle situation this can become... Newcastle United sacked Bobby Robson and from then onwards gone on a downward spiral... I've highlighted a few weeks back and get angry reponses...

We're now in potentially worse situation... there is no one i repeat NO ONE in a position of power who has the club's interest in their heart (unless Kenny becomes involved officially...)

and some of you are celebrating 'yayyy... good news we're gonna improve from now on'... Needless to say I'm left speechless at such ignorance and naivity...

hmm yet we managed to buy an injured unfancied Italian midfielder somehow and a vastly overpriced defender, weird isn't it.

From liverpoolfc.tv

Liverpool FC today confirmed that Rafael Benitez is to leave the club by mutual consent.

Mr Benitez relinquishes his position as team manager after six years and the Board of Directors would like to place on record their grateful thanks for his services and wish him all the best in his future career.

The Board has now asked Managing Director Christian Purslow, with the assistance of Club Ambassador Kenny Dalglish, to begin a formal search to identify and assess potential candidates for the managerial position.

No timescale has been placed on the process and Liverpool FC will make no further statement until a new manager is appointed.

LFC Chairman Martin Broughton said: "Rafa will forever be part of Liverpool folklore after bringing home the Champions League following the epic final in Istanbul but after a disappointing season both parties felt a fresh start would be best for all concerned.''

Rafael Benitez said: "It is very sad for me to announce that I will no longer be manager of Liverpool FC. I would like to thank all of the staff and players for their efforts.

"I'll always keep in my heart the good times I've had here, the strong and loyal support of the fans in the tough times and the love from Liverpool. I have no words to thank you enough for all these years and I am very proud to say that I was your manager.

"Thank you so much once more and always remember: You'll never walk alone."

At last he's gone

Things can only get better now, I firmly believe that.

Get better? Now wait and see how the owners will now sell all our best players and drain as much cash to their pocket as possible. Then will just leave and leave us in a state of disarray. I really hope this will not happen but I wouldn't be surprised if the two Yanks will end up doing this.
