A.B. wrote:He could had went to any club in the world for free, he went to the Premiership because its the best in the world. Mista knows what Rafa can do, having a successful career at the most successful club in England can only help Mista.

Can I clarify a few points.

-Kluivert is not playing for free ??

-Newcastle were the only club who would meet his excessive wage demands of around 60K a week.

P.S. This playground bickering is getting on my f*****g nerves

This is not a dig A.B. but sometimes I think you are watching a different sport to the rest of us.

Patrick Kluivert's agent touted Kluivert around Europe last spring and last summer and there were hardly any takers. Kluivert was offered to Arsenal, Chelsea, us and Man UTD but no one was interested.

He previously dismissed Newcastle and Boro as not being "big enough" for him.

Then he had to return to Newcastle and Boro with his tail between his legs as no one else was interested. Boro decided to go with Viduka instead, and it took Newcastle a while to decide whether they wanted to go with his massive wages.

There is no longer such a thing as a free transfer in football. Kluivert will cost Newcastle close to £16m or £17m if he stays there for 4 years.

Mista won't come here for nothing. He will feel he's entitled to some fat wages if he signs on a Bosman, and if he signs for 4 years a guy like Mista will set us back at least £12m.

We, of all clubs around, know too well that no player will coem here to play for free.

Guys like Phil Babb took us to the cleaners.

Phil Babb: always saying how much he loved the club but still sat on his contract in his last season without kicking a ball, despite the club trying to sell him.

Ultimately his loss though.

its not the chilli sauce on kebabs that give you ring-sting, its the actual meat. had one without chilli, and still had ring-sting. the chilli's only there to mask the nonsense they stuff inside that bread.

One thing I will say is that I think the head-down trait is what makes Baros special among the ordinary.

Baros plays by instinct, abundant with intelligence. He maps a situation when or before he's about to receive the ball, then tucks his head down, and uses the image of the situation he mapped earlier in the back of his memory, work his way out with feigns and fakes to evade defenders - in his memory (he might even be closing his eyes while doing that ! you never know) and just when he's about to shoot, he briefly looks up for just a split second, chooses a spot, and bang..he lets fly a shot.

We should be marvelling at the fact how he manages to score or place the ball right into corners of the goal even when he has his head down (Norwich goal). We should be marvelling at how he manages to evade defenders and dribble his way in the penaltybox and score thru the tightest of angles - even with his head down (Monaco goal). NOT crucify or moan bout him not lifting his head up more often. True it is frustrating to see that he could have passed it to someone better placed than score himself. But maybe that's the limit of Baros's ability ? Maybe we are asking the wrong questions out of Baros ?

Sometimes, in fact most times, the more time we have, the longer our brains process the options which in turn delays the shot and allows opposition defenders to clear the danger.

You hardly see Baros going 1-on-1 on keepers, and if he does, he usually misses. Because this is when you have to look up and shoot instantly, instead of dribbling or jiggling his way thru defences. Baros relies on his special trait to score goals. Take for example, the last goal against Kahn when he played Germany for Czech's reserves in Euro 2004. 1-on-1 with Kahn is enough to intimidate anyone and most players would shoot on sight immediately without thinking or taking time to aim. Instead, Baros once again jiggled his way thru nobody trying to fool Kahn into making a reflex dive to one side, before Baros chose to slot the ball into the net opposite the direction as to which Kahn dived.

Baros is not the complete player. He will never be 'cos if you ask him to look up, he loses all sense of direction and purpose and he'll look lost. So meantime, let's just enjoy the most of his skills because Baros at most is still raw and can only improve. :)

So the force is strong with this one Obi St Mick

I dont think Baros was given really enough of chance to show what he is capable of under GH reign.
Perhaps we will see a star striker emerge under Rafa guidance perhaps not, either way he be cheered on by me while he wears the red shirt

Let's give Baros a chance, and our support.

I would rather play Phil Babb at centre forward, than Heskey.

Heskey's pathetic career at LFC was owed to one player. Michael Owen. Owen always felt he played better with Heskey alongside.

And Robbie Fowler was sent on his way because Michael didnt like playing with him.

I've always thought Baros a star in the making, and Euro 2004 confirmed he was.

We're better off without you Owen. Enjoy the bench at Madrid. And life is so different without a numnuts like Heskey.

Baros and Cisse are what we've needed for 4 years.

And Mista is coming next year.
