He inherited a very good team that had a glaring weakness, a little tweak and he has made the same team the best in Europe at this point and that is without any additions to the squad over the  summer other than a striker that hasn’t even played.

What a superb all round performance. As good as any in the last 30 years, big shout to Gakpo and Gravenberch who continue to improve on a weekly basis and to Smokey Joe Gomez for another great performance... what a guy. Everyone played to the best of their abilities, front, midfield and defence were all superb so how did we concede 3 goals?! 

The starting 11 made Jones and Nunez look very average in comparison.

The same Jones that dominated Palmer , and the Madrid midfield

Yep that Jones. One good game doesn't make him world class. He's not at the same level of his team mates. Far below in my opinion, if he wasn't English he would've been sold on 3 years ago.

It’s not just “one good game” though is it

He has started 13 of our games this season - been involved significantly to the point he was called up by England and starting for them

Same number of goals and assists from midfield as Dom

I know it’s fashionable to dismiss the scouse lad - prob because he didn’t cost £50mil but he is a big part of the squad now and clearly rated by Slot

I think Curtis has been better this season, I don’t actually understand why he aggravates some on here. He has a good engine and is strong on the ball. Maybe not first choice with what we have now but I can see him improving.

Improved this season I agree but I've never been a fan of him. He can have good games but in others he plays like he can't be bothered. He's often too slow to release the ball and slows down play and the worst thing he does is he passes to a teammate who is free but only after the pass isn't on anymore. For example if he has a teammate free sideways of him and he sees him, but the oposition players also see him obviously, and Curtis drags the ball needlessly for so long until his teammate is no longer free and is now under pressure and only THEN Jones passes him the ball, and of course his teammate either loses the ball or is forced to pass back right away. He does this so often I can't believe his teammates haven't said anything about it to him.

Anyway, he's definitely improved but he's no more than a squad player and probably never will be.

He is improving in leaps but some will just judge on the 19year old Jones

He has been excellent this season when he has started also when he was come , his has created goals , scored goals and also been that player to carry the ball when needed

There is a reason why Klopp and now Slot play him

I think he is strong on the ball and doesn’t lose possession easily. His passing is upper-mid compared to Gravenberch but I’d certainly keep him for the squad.
