LIVERPOOL VS TRABZONSPOR - Thur 19/8/2010  19:45

Liverpool Football Club - Games

Postby petsi » Fri Aug 20, 2010 1:03 pm

friends, I wouldn't like to cause any problem here. I can't really really understand why some of members here are uncomfortable to see a fan from opponent, if he's only aiming to share about football. Should ever one of you join in any TS forum with this kind of decent posts, you would be highly welcomed.

For the match, i would admire the second half performance by Liverpool. What sad for us is to concede a goal as a result of a very stupid mistake, but Babel's strike was amazing. Before the given penalty, Egemen fouled the guy which had to be called as a penalty, too. Whereas i dont agree with Hudson as the other position was both foul and offside, when the goal was canceled. Anyway, thanks to all LFC and TS fans here, as it was a friendly game.

also thanks to all friends here to welcome me, espicially Woof and in and out.

I'm not too bothered about the performance yet.  Preseason was a write off this year, so things are going to be a bit dodgy to start with.  On top of that we have a new manager with new ideas so its not even like the players are coming back to the same routine.

I think in 2 weeks we will start seeing a big improvement but there are some good points already.

1. Torres looks up for it
2. Gerrard is playing with some of his old tenacity
3. Jovonich (?) Looks like a decent player, kind of like Kuyt but with some ability
4. I thought Poulson looked decent, especially as it was his first game.

Were gonna be ok this year... YNWA
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

Id say you're happy enough with the result?
Trabzonspor were a lot better than i thought they would be.

2nd leg in Turkey should be interesting.

Rocky,

You need to understand that we have a new manager with new idea's and a lot of players still short of match fitness.

The team that played last night had never played with each other before.  It was Poulsen's debut after a short pre season.

it was Babel's first game back.  Torres hasn't had 90 minutes yet.  Aurelio had hardly played for the last 9 months.  Jovanovic and Cole are only settling in.

Give it some time and hopefully Stevie, Torres, Cole and Jovanovic all click.

I was disappointed with the game as a spectactle, and with our overall performance. The first half was just a steaming pile of sh!te. The early header from Kyrgiakos and the late goal were the only chances to speak of. The style of our play was slow, flat-footed, narrow, without rhythm or fluency and predictable. Poulsen and Lucas were too much inclined to pass the ball straight into the feet of Joe Cole who was often crowded out. They needed to use the wide areas more and allow the team to advance up pitch gradually. They weren't helped by the complete ineptitude of Maxi (unbelievably shabite in the first half), the movement of Jovanovic, the tendency of Carra to look long, the reluctance of our full backs to get forward (I don't really blame them), and the inability of Babel to hold the ball up. He doesn't have the aerial ability or conviction to compete with CBs to bring down lofted balls, and neither does he have the nous or skill to pick up and create from deep. He's OK running into lots of open space though, and his finish for the goal was class (dare I say Henry-esque  :D ).

Second half we picked up the pace from the first minute with Torres and Jovanovic the main instigators. First, the Spaniard's shot from the edge of the box, then his header - which was absolutely different class considering the difficulty, followed by Jovanovic's give-and-go (with Cole, I think) into the box that would have been a bit special if he'd finished it off. In between that, Lucas missed as free a header as free headers come, and won a penalty for Joe Cole to miss. Later, Poulsen had a scrappy goal disallowed but from there on it petered out into a steaming pile of sh!te, again.

petsi wrote:Hi friends,

First of all, i should let you know that i have great sympathy and respect to LFC side and espicially to glorious fans of the club. I feel that there will be a very friendly challenge between these two teams.

I'm a Tranbonspor (TS) fan, and i've been just registered to inform you who you are playing against.

TS have been champions for 6 times in Turkey and first team to win it after the big-three (Galatasaray-Fenerbahce-Besiktas) Istanbul clubs.

The most interesting side of this tie is that TS and LFC was tied in 76-77 season and TS won the first leg 1-0 at home, but lost 3-0 away. In that year LFC had been the champions of all competitions and the team that only beaten was TS the whole year. The GK of TS was Senol Gunes who is now the manager at Trabzonspor (He was also the manager to national team et 2002 world cup, where we grabbed the 3rd place at the tournament). He joined us for the 4th time as manager in January 10' and TS side have not been conceding more than 1 goal in a game since he joined us. After having joined us, TS achieved to win Turkish cup, beating Fenerbahce in final 3-1 and just 10 days ago the super cup beating the defending champion Bursaspor 3-0 thanks to hatrick performance by Teofilo.

Trabzonspor likes to play pass to feet and slow tempo football. Defence line is generally high and the team narrows area to the opponent in the middle. TS have the most creative mid players among the Turkish soccer teams, espicially Colman, Alanzinho and Yattara. We have also newly grabbed Jaja from Methalist who's an explosive striker but not performed for TS yet. Additionally, LFC should be careful on Umut's heading performance from aerial freekicks and corners.

LFC should improve the tempo and be careful on locking TS's key players in the middle. I wish a friendly challenging serie and hope that the best team wins it.

If you have question about TS, please ask it.

Well, thanks to you too matt_liverpool :)

should anyone read my pre-match advises, i guess they will give me my credit. I think just colman's performance was unexpectedly embarrassing and whatever i told happened. TS passed a lot whole match, try not to give possesion to you and Onur performed awesome as i told.
Most of our creative players didn't take their time, and they will show up at Trabzon.
if you score just 1 goal at Trabzon, then it's almost guarenteed that you will quailfy, as our striker (esp. Umut as you saw yesterday night) are poor at finishing and have no chance to score 3 goals against LFC.
By the way, Torres is an excellent player and hell i donna why he wasn't on the pitch. And also, Do you guys know why Gerard didn't play yeserday?

jacdaniel, my friend, believe me we feel upset not having a draw. Of course LFC have been the better side but we were really close to an away goal. i should even prefer a 2-1 lose.

As i remember, a member here posted that if it were Galatasaray or Fenerbahce, then you would have harder time. GS tied 2-2 to Kharpaty Lviv (5th place at Ukraine) at home and FB lost to Paok 1-0 away. Beside, please make sure that TS is the best playing team in Turkey for the time-being. If it were GS, be sure there would be another 8-0 thing. On Monday, TS will be playing against Fenerbahce, and common opinion is that TS will grab an easy victory.

Petsi mate, we didn't play our best players because first of all, league is our priority. We just played a very important, high tempo game in the league against one of our fierce rivals 3 days prior to this game and after this game we have another very important game in the league on Monday so we rested most of our best players (Gerrard, Torres, Mascherano, Agger, Skrtel, Kuyt and Johnson). We have also just started our season and most of our big guys are not fully fit yet. All of the aforementioned players were part of the world cup and had an extended holiday because of that. :)

So apparently there's no Torres (rested), Gerrard (back injury), Agger (concussion), Maxi (sick)... and some turn-coat who's sulking like a baby!

So what do you reckon the team's going to be tomorrow night?
