LIVERPOOL VS SPARTA PRAGUE - 2ND LEG 24th Feb 2011 18:00 GMT

Liverpool Football Club - Games

Postby Roger Red Hat » Wed Feb 23, 2011 2:21 pm

Well it was job done over in Prague, it wasn't pretty but we got a 0-0 away in european tie, how many times has that happened in the past? plenty. Get them into our back yard and we'll set up the team to play the pass/move footie that will be too much for them.

Liverpool 4 - 0 S.Prague  (ngog 2, Merelies, Kuyt)

anyway let me get this right...

Suarez is cup tied so cant play for us in the Europa league because he played for Ajax in the Champ.League, but Torres was allowed to play in the Champ.League despite playing for us in the Europa League? well done UEFA!

Yep,

Lee its because Ajax dropped down to the Europa League, Suarez is cup tied. If Ajax stayed in the CL or maybe just dropped out of the competition then Suarez wouldn't have been cup tied

I think its going to be 3-0 for the reds!

Think we will scrape a 1-0 or 2-0. Dont doubt our ability to create chances at home just dont have massive faith in our ability to convert our possession and passing game into goals.

Will be a good atmosphere, hearing its a sell out even for a 6pm kick off.

Has a squad been named fir the game yet? Be nice to see if any youngsters are involved. No sterling fir sure as he played for the U18's today.

It's good to know that the confidence of beating S.Prague is in the air but then this is a 2nd rated European competition and we won't be playing with our strongest possible squad due to injuries and cup tie. To get through to next round and to possibly win the competition is a bonus BUT our main aim is chasing for that elusive 4th spot in the premier league. That's why I agree with Kenny's decision not to risk Stevie and Carroll for they are much needed for the more important EPL games.

To be frank, I'm not so confident of winning tonight's game because without Suarez, Carroll, Gerrard playing and without an away goal advantage.  We'll be too dependant on Meireles to get the goals tonight. The strikers we have available Kuyt, Ngog, Jova are not dependable. That's why I won't be too disappointed if we don't get through but for me the the premier league is much more important and exciting to watch with the likes of Suarez and later Carroll and Gerrard playing soon.

All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

I live 75 mile away from Anfield but theres a direct train lol

Kenny's home debut in Europe and the fact it's a sell out crowd will carry us into the next round. Got to get behind the team tonight folks! lets hear Anfield rocking!
