Good balance and vision. Some lovely first time passes, seems to play them a lot faster than Lucas and looks more likely to open teams up especially if he gets on the same wavelength as Gerrard, and Torres when he returns. He also seems to find space better than Lucas and look for the ball a bit more.

On the downside he's obviously not match fit and he doesn't look like he's going to provide too much defensively. I assum Rafa's plan is to play him in place of Lucas with Gerrard remaining in his usual role.  I wonder if there would be an arguement for swoping them in the future.

Touche

And Aquilani did fade badly during the game so maybe his fitness isnt up to speed (maybe rafa was right  )yet but the first 45 would of done him well .

my streams a bit on and off, so i did missed parts of it, however you can see Aquilani quality, gets into space to pick the ball or gets forward as well when he can. a fully fit Aquilani would be great, definitly doesnt look like a alonso player, but looks like a pass and move player. Good start then wondered off as it went on though, maybe rafa is right, maybe he is still not fit enough :(

I think we can seem them swapping a lot during the game .

There'll have to be mate if that was representitive of Aquilani's defensive prowess. You can't play central midfield in the Premiership and not put a tackle in.

I think you may be right mate. Gerrard is obviously a much better tackler and the way Aquilani floats about he would be ideal for the role behind Torres.

Worth a try imo.

yes the streams can do that. I think it's the jumpiness of the image and fact that it's kind of compressed into a smaller area. If you saw him full screen you'd see that he is still garbage.
