but then who would play on the left?

Seems you answered the question yourself mate  :D

I would have prefered Riera myself, but I doubt Rafa would agree with that one. So I would move Benny to the left and played El Zhar, or like you Pachecho.

Since then however I have heard Kuyt will be fit and the team will be :-

Reina
Masch
Carra
Agger
Johnno
Benny
Stevie
Lucas
Babel
Aquilani
Kuyt

Presumably based on the white bib theory? with Masch right back and Johnson LB.

well at least there was something to my idea that the Greek isn't right for this game, which at the time I thought was at least half a crackpot theory.

I feel for the guy, he gave enough good games (and goals) to have his own name or nickname from the fans. Call him Soto, or whatever name but THE GREEK? Come on.

Well he is Greek, and we only have one of those, so in that sense THE Greek seems fair enough to be honest.

I think we'll win this (the whole Europa League Cup) but the fact that we have a central midfielder likely to be playing right back and a right back likely to be playing left back is hardly a ringing endorsemant of our squald building skills.

Yeah right, I wonder if the Israeli will play on the left side and the Italian in the hole. Hopefully, the Brazilian will give a good, solid game tonight and hopefully the French will be available as an attacking option.

In 2001 Liverpool beat a Portuguese team in the UEFA Cup quarter finals Spanish team in the semis then won the final in Germany, Bayern Munich won the Champions League, and there was a general election.

Both Dortmund and Hamburg are renowned for some cracking ale as well. It'll be a picnic on the banks of the Elbe.   :)

No Torres though....its going to be hard work tonight.

Stick Babel up front, Gerrard on the right, Benayoun on the left and Aquilani in the hole :)

Mate, the beer in Dortmund is much, much better than in Hamburg. The DAB (Dortmunder Aktien Brauerei) DAB produces some absolutely top dark beers and ales - I have fond memories of sampling their wares....  :nod

Hamburg is a top city though. Spent many's a weekend up there on the lash...

I like your thinking, that would do for me.

Won't happen though!

It will be Kuyt upfront if he is fit. That's a massive worry for me because I personally think that Deadly Dirk is terrible as a lone front man. I'd love to see Babel get a go at the job and if Kuyt can't play then we'll finally get to see him play in that role.

BIG BIG Match for Gerrard tonight. The boy found some form at the weekend so let's hope he turns in one of those Captain Marvel performances tonight!!!!

I think we're gonna need one!

Okay, I'm out of practice with watching on the net but since I won't get this one on telly, I'll need to.  So, let me ask nice and early where to find a good link?  Much obliged.

Take your pick

Obviously we won't know which are any good until nearer the kickoff mate. If you got a proxy server you could watch it HERE which is excellent.

Cheers for the links, mate.  Hopefully they'll be a stream or two that doesn't require downloading any software etc.

That's magic Saint. I'm stuck in the UK with superb internet access for this one, so it's perfect!
