Liverpool v West Ham 25th Sept 2024 Mickey Mouse Cup

Liverpool Football Club - Games

Hopefully Chiesa gets some game time, preferably starts. And Captain Chaos.
Be nice to see Gomez get some time as well.
Can't think Slot will give many minutes to the nippers - Nyoni, Morton etc but who knows.
West Ham are gone to pot but Bowen is always a danger.

This is gonna be a bana skin game for us. They're gonna be fully motivated...anyway Quansah just scored a comedic pinball OG

Get in Jota 1-1 Looked a touch offside there but there's no VAR tonight so goal stands. 1st assist by Chiesa

HT 1-1 tbh very little goal threat from West Ham so far, but our creativity down the middle is kinda lacking as well

Finally Gakpo gets one...4-1 looks more representative of the dominance today

Hammers shot themselves in the foot with the sending off.
Very comfortable in the end but they could have had a couple. Our defending looked calamitous at times, Tsimi in particular. And Gomez was hairy more than once. Bradley looked a bit nervous on a few occasions too.
I still think Jones is way too ponderous. If he had a bit more urgency about his game he could be a whole lot better.

Tsimi working real hard to give them an assist when we were 2-1 up. Quansah looks like he's a bit low in confidence atm. Caoimhín did well

Confident start by the new manager.  6 out of 7 for Mr. Slot to date, including preseason I think it must be 10 wins out of 11.

Interesting comment I read this morning.
Without the first choice centre backs, the defence looks decidedly shaky, an omen of what it will be like when VVD is finished. Unless we pull a first class replacement out of somewhere.
Quansah looked nervous and For me I reckon Gomez has already moved on in his head.

Quansah has been underwhelming for quite some time.
Hammers imploded after losing their heads.

We looked particularly vunerable in the air i thought. In a way we've been spoiled in the Klopp era with the likes of Virgil, Konate and Matip, last night reminded me of 2 periods actually, it reminded me of that mid to late 90's dogs of war period before Sami Hyypia arrived and also the post Sami era where we had really good players like Carra, Agger, Skrtel but no real big man.
In both of those periods teams didnt have to be that creative to cause us major problems, we havent seen that for the best part of a decade but we got a glimpse of what the future might be like if the club arent switched on.
