Liverpool Football Club - Games

full strength team from now on EVERY game. injuries permitting, Roy needs to play the strongest 11 every single game. that includes the 3rd round FA cup, this europe tie and Blackpool this weekend. No excuses. 1st eleven.

Its games like this were we can try some new things.  Id basically play the first 11 with a few tweeks.  Kelly should get a place at RB or LB.
Ngog probably deserves to start due to his form in this competition, but we all know Nando needs to find some form.  Id start him.
Id play Meirles in CM were he looked most comfortable against Sunderland.

But its games like this were we can try new things.  Maybe chance johnson at RM.  Chance Agger and the Greek at centre half.  Try some ideas that could be used for the first team.

We need to try and get some confidence back and that comes from good results.
Play a weakened side and risk losing and the confidence being knocked further.
Players like Torres and Johnson need to get back to form if we are going to start climbing the league.

Agree totally with this Ben ,I would also include Gerrard on the wing and keep the midfield strong and competitive with Lucas and Meireles ....we need to get at these from the get go and put the result beyond doubt in the first half ....then maybe we can introduce the fringe players like Poulson and co to close the game down ....but I honestly think Torres would be a much happier bunny if Gerrard was supplying the crosses from the flanks

why am i a div if we were fighting for the title or even the top four i could understand it. But were not so why not play our best team and play them week in week out and get some confidence back.

most seem to agree - strong 1st team, batter them and then have the luxury of replacing later in the game. But in reality we all know that a tinkered team selection, negative defensive tactics and a yaaawwwnner of a game.

You are right. I could live with a slightly tinkered 1st eleven (it is a good chance to give some of the squad a game), but the tactics and the yawn factor (especially early in the morning when I'll be watching it) will make it hard work.

Still I'm an optimist: 2-1 to us.

Fernando Torres has been named in Liverpool's squad to face Utrecht, but skipper Steven Gerrard has been ruled out.

Gerrard and Daniel Agger are the two notable absentees from Roy Hodgson's 20-man squad for the trip to Holland.

Agger's absence leaves Hodgson with a major selection headache at left-back with Paul Konchesky and Fabio Aurelio already missing through injury.

Torres, who is struggling to find his top form, has been included in the squad after being rested for the opening Group K win over Steaua Bucharest earlier this month.

Dirk Kuyt is also included against his former club after coming through Saturday's draw with Sunderland unscathed following a shoulder problem.
