Strange new format for the CL this season. We've a couple of tricky games in there, Real Madrid of course as well as Xabi bringing his all conquering Leverkusen to Anfield.
Don't think I've understood just yet how qualification works but it's more games and we could probably do with a bigger squad in case of injuries.
It's all about the money and TV revenue of course. I'm sure Klopp is saying the same.

As a nerd I've come to understand it pretty clearly.
36 teams, not 32
No more groups
All teams in one league
8 games instead of 6 ALL against different teams
4 home and 4 away
WAY less predictable
Top 8 teams after all games are played qualifies to the round of 16 and are all seeded
Teams placed 9-24 will play another round. Winners will play the top 8
In knockout stages teams from the same country can face eachother
At worst this mean 4 more extra games over a CL campaign

Such an odd format, even if you do auto qualify you've still got a very good chance of going into play offs with plenty of positions available.

Anyhow, really hoping we get one over Real, hate those w*nkers.
