Owen and Gerrard have more ability than all of those players.

They just haven't been in a good enough team to have the same sort of acheivements. Wouldn't swap Michael or Stevie for any players in the world.

Gerrard could make a liverpool all time 11 but Kenny and Rush would keep Owen out of the team

I agree with Stu, Gerrard and Owen are as good as Barnes and Dalglish but Digger and Kenny are in their 40s and 50s .

Stu, if you believe that Gerrard and Owen are as good, I think it is time for everybody to chip and buy you a video so you can watch some clips of the glory years.

Just because guys played before you were born doesn't mean they aren't as good as the current guys who have no European cups or even a league medal.

I dont think kenny or barnes would be winning european cups under houllier either

I agree i think gerrard would get in the liverpool best 11 but a little tougher for owen to break in there :)

Ian Rush....Ian Rush....Ian Rush...erm I dunno what else to say...Ian Rush

OK, a bit more objective: Rush wasn't the "best" player we ever had in terms of talent and ability, Barnes, Kenny and Keegan and latterly Gerrard are the "best" best.... but in terms of what he meant to me, growing up in the 80's as a young striker myself if th equestion is who is the "greatest" then it  has to be Rush for me personally...although saying that I totally worshipped Grobbelar too :)

No contest. King Kenny was the man. He had eyes in the back of his head. A legend.

I reckon Dalglish too, Rush wouldn't have scored nearly as many without him. Together though, they've got to be one of the best striking partnerships ever, apart from that game against sunderland where we had mad erik meijer up front with heskey, obviously.

i dont see the logic ...if kenny rush hughes etc were in a ****** team they wouldnt have won anything ....the fact is they were great and that made the team great although Stevie is my favourite of the current team i would rather have crazy horse any day

Kenny Dalglish stands alone as the greatest player ever to wear the LFC shirt in my opinion. Others are simply there to make up the list. Kenny had everything , creative, skilful, goalscorer, stamina, tactical know how and style that was a joy to see.

Yeats , Hunt and Liddel all deserve a mention from earlier times but Kenny is THE man !  :p
