Pacemakers drummer dies, aged 66
Fred Marsden, drummer in the 1960s Merseybeat group Gerry and The Pacemakers has died, aged 66.
The Pacemakers were contemporaries of The Beatles, and shared Brian Epstein as their manager.
Led by Fred's brother, Gerry, the band were best known for the hits You'll Never Walk Alone, I Like It and Ferry Cross the Mersey.
Marsden died of cancer in Southport on Saturday according to a family notice in the Liverpool Echo newspaper.
He is survived by his wife Margaret and two children.
A funeral is planned for Friday at Our Lady's Church in Formby, England.
