Yossi lifts the lid

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

i guess some people would prefer to have a bench of Winston Bogardes who would be more then happy not to play, have no ambitions while collecting their cheques and not utter a single bad word against the manager. any player who is unhappy about not playing, any player who scores goals and is unhappy at being dropped for the next game, is Judas. its ironic how many of you blast Yossi now but were left bemused when he doesnt play and we needed creativity. all because he spoke out against the Jedi Master Benitez.

or maybe since he isnt getting any younger and his playing days could be over within 3 seasons it would be logical to earn as much before one retires?

the way some posters (not you) go on and blast Yossi for his comments its retarded. while football is our form of entertainment, its their job. they get paid. and if a better offer comes to any of us, we would take it. so you guys ought to shut the eff up about Yossi. he did nothing wrong, but simply gave further endorsements about what a rubbish manager Wafa is. and yes, its Wafa. and it'll continue to stay as Wafa until certain posters start showing respect and call our CURRENT MANAGER Roy by his name and not Woy.

I was definitely pro Rafa, and was devastated when he left. I am not however blind to his faults , he is human after all. I wish Yossi all the best at his new club. I always liked him and never understood why he didn't get more games. He always gave his all in a Liverpool shirt and that is more than can be said for some players ! He fell out with Rafa and decided he wanted away , that's what anyone would do. He was asked to explain why he left Liverpool and he did , really don't see a problem with that.
Rafa was under a lot of pressure the last few seasons and I am sure it took its toll on his health , and I 'd bet he would be the first to admit that he made some wrong decisions , as we all do under pressure.
Having said all that , I hope he wins nothing at his new club . Yossi I mean !  :p

Yes it's unfortunate that the reaction of many people is so predictable, but there it is.

Personally I don't really care about Yossi Benayoun either way. I thought he wasn't good enough as a footballer (which surely is the important thing) and I think we got top money for a player his age/ability. I'm not sticking up for "fecking Purslow  " either (how right some of us were on that one when he was being praised for driving a hard bargain with Real Madrid :D), but I'm sure Roy would have rubber stamped the sale of Yossi for 5 million quid on day one of his arrival if anyone asked him. Whether or not they did doesn't concern me much either.

As for the "lifting of the lid", I'm not sure there's much in it really. Anyone who watched us play with unbiased eyes last season (we lost 19 matches remember), watched the body language of the players, the raised eyebrows at substitutions, the hands thrown in the air, the lack of fight and acceptance of defeat whenever we didn't score first, could see there were huge problems within the camp. Much the same could be said for England in the World Cup, and when such problems are there they are there for all to see (if you look with open eyes). Benayoun is merely confirming the problems were there, it's not that surprising really.

He now of course joins a long list of ex players (some of whom were excellent players too), pundits, people within the game etc etc who are forever condemned for criticising the previous management. He'll get villified when he goes to Anfield, he'll run the gauntlet of hate becuse he dared to say it as he saw it.

It doesn't really bother me either way. The important thing is the future and not the past.

He turned Yossi into a better player though, as he did with Crouch, Alonso, Carragher etc.

weren't they just getting to be better players because they were approaching their prime years? it's a bit like me criticising Benitez for Carra getting slower.

Benitez thinks Garreth Barry is better than Alonso.

too right Mick, lets just look forward, Yossi's words don't matter anymore
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

I do and its all about opinions selling your story to a gutter rag and and a scum journo to boot is not something people should be laughing about, but then again nothing on this forum suprises me with the Rafa ooters in their eyes even if we got fat sam they would be made up as long as the fat spanish waiter has gone.
They continue to post laughing sarcastic smileys, nothings changed.

Like I said on another thread, only people who were pro the previous management and total wind-up merchants ever used "fat spanish waiter" on here. Most people, nearly all in fact, who had a beef with the previous management had it purely on football matters.

Anyway he's gone now, and the imprtant thing is we move on and try and improve. Step one is the league. The previous manager left us in seventh place, behind Aston Villa and Tottenham. The new managers first task is to try and improve on that. That's what's important, nothign else. I know some people like nothing better than a few hours spent falling out with people talking about previous managers, but to be totally honest I can't be bothered.

Anybody who is surprised at Benayouns revelations is IMHO delusional. So what, he's gone and the previous management has gone too. We move on.

I offer the same as you fuck all.

I am more concerned about the ownership than footballing matters and formations for next season. Thanx

No I don't think he did, that is like saying that every player who has played under Rafa has only improved because of him.

I'm sorry Ciggy but it's patently clear Rafa was a problem himself, the man had great character but no personality. Yes, he gave money to charity, said and did what Liverpool fans wanted him to do. But ultimately failed where his prime business is concerned- on the football field. And his personality by the sound of things made life hell for many players at Liverpool.

I'm glad he's gone personally and I'll be watching him and where he ends up at Inter. Because while Mourinho was lambasted on regular occassions for only doing the business at rich clubs; and that if Rafa had the money he'd do the same, well we'll see now won't we.

And I welcome a manager like Roy at our club who will get back to basics, unify the squad play it simple and not over complicate things- because that's what we need now.
Football is a relatively simple game and Roy knows it ;)

it still surprises me that people think football clubs and whats goes on inside them is all sweetness and light, things happen managers and players fall out, managers and players move on.

Would you love the club/company so much that you can forgo your career?

leaving Liverpool is hardly forgoing your career, name another club in the premiership that has more players in the World Cup Final for example?
