It's all calculated on domestic and European results over a 5 year period I think - for two years we were top and for the last 5 years we have been in top 5

I think also the teams we play have a say in it too. I remember someone mentioning the fact that ours was so much higher than Chelsea's because of the teams we had beaten over the last few years ect where as Chelsea hadn't played as many big teams.

Like I say, what is the formula for it, and do we have one for the league?

I don't see where Yossi Ben. went wrong. He spoke his mind during pre season and after he left the club.
He didn't say it before an important game nor while the manager was still in charge. Benyaoun is a smart guy and I'm sure I read before that he was one of the bigger mixers in the club. I doubt he was the only fella to feel that way about Benitez. I realise its impossible to keep all your players happy...........but he did seem like lots of players start off liking Benitez then end up falling out with him...he is a terrible MAN ( EDIT)manager in my opinion. Excellent tactician .........his team are capable of beating anyone on their day. But over a course of the season he doesnt seem to be able to get the most out of his player or at least not his liverpool players..................

I don't see why one would exist for the league. This is used to rank and seeding teams in club competitions.

Bav he is more than likely trying to come up with a point - instead of going straight to it he is suggesting it but will get there soon enough

Cheers mate. i had a quick look at it and it confirmed my original thoughts. It's a load of boll0cks

Disclaimer before I get drowned in a river of mouth foam: I'm not saying we didn't do well in Europe, by and large we did. However, the co-efficient is almost certain to drop dramatically this season, as it's calculated over the last five seasons, and this time we aren't in the Champions League. As I say though, we did well. For much of the last five seasons the last eight would have been the minimum requirement for us, and we got there every time bar one. Not including this season obviously, as we didn't qualify last time.

Sorry why exactly is it :censored:? Because it's going to drop this season? It would have dropped anyway given we are in the Europa league. We won a final and got to another a few years later not to mention a few semi's too.

Country rankings determine how many European places each country gets. Only because in some countries winning or making the final of the domestic cups offers a route into Europe is it not called a league ranking.

Just back out now - its easier . Its a very good indicator of how well we did over a 5 year period - easier to just leave it at

I wouldn't read too much into Yossi's interview. It's not exactly uncommon for players to have a few words to say about a manager if they aren't first choice yet feel they deserve to be. Bennayoun seems to be the 'arm =around the shoulder' type + it's clear he struggled with the rotation. Would have been better if he had remained professional, kept his gob shut and got on with his new job at Chelsea.
