I think Benayoun is a good signing for us.  The lad has great skill and composure on the ball, can play in a few different positions and has Premiership experience.  He's a decent replacement for Garcia and a huge step up from Zenden.

BBC say £4mil...

Liverpool close to Benayoun deal

Benayoun has been at West Ham for two seasons
Midfielder Yossi Benayoun is set to seal a summer switch to Liverpool, BBC Sport understands.
The West Ham playmaker and Israel international has long been linked with a move to Anfield and a £4m transfer will be finalised on Wednesday.

Reds manager Rafael Benitez has made no secret of his admiration for the 25-year-old who he has been tracking since the end of the season.

"It's clear he'd like to come and he's a player I like," said the Spaniard.

Benayoun, Israel's national captain, moved to Upton Park from Racing Santander in a £2.5m deal in 2005.

He has played 72 games for the Hammers and scored eight goals.

The clubs have already done business this summer with striker Craig Bellamy moving to the capital from Merseyside in a £7.5m deal.

The BBC reckon it's 4million and he will sign tomorrow.

I'd be happy if it's only 4mil, he's a replacement for Garcia there's no doubt about that. It's not too much of a high price gamble if it's only 4mil.

He was poor last season (but so were all the west ham players really) but he was superb in 2005-2006 and was one of the best players on the pitch at the FA Cup Final.

Good player but not hard to look good in a West Ham side, we'll see how he does ???

Anyone think we'll sign another right winger or just Babel?

I´m not convinced, I sense another Pennant style gamble - well it might work out and if it doesnt its only 4 million.

Chavski got the lad we needed, Malouda. If we´d got him I would have been well chuvved but I cant see many French coming to Anfield these days.....

if he was argentian he would be worth 10 million plus

he reminds me of aimar........as good imo.

in spain he was top quality.

for west ham he was top quality.

yeah he is decent. bit skinny and i'd expect the same hype over him that peter crouch got....

hope he does well here. if he can produce goals like these more often, will be a nice surprise addition.

Sports 5 on Israeli TV just confirmed a 5 Million transfer.
Yossi will make 45,000 quid a week (hey, it takes me a whole month to make this amount ??? )
The comantator, Sagi Cohen, said that Yossi's ability to play on both right and left side is very important for a sub (and he IS supposed to be a sub).
Also, Cohen says that the trend in the big clubs, that play 70-75 games a year is to have "two teams" so the first team can get enough rest. This is what Manure doing this summer and now Liverpool also brings a player that is a sub by definition.

who cares about malouda...

he never had his heart on joining anyway...

Quaresma,  would be a better option,  and i still think we could meet there asking price  17 million...

another option-  babbel  13.5  million  7 years younger than malouda...   :;):

the word is malouda comes in to replace robben who is bound for spain

bad in my opinion for chelsea.

yossi for me is similar signing to steve sidwell at chelsea, proven at this level......aint broke the bank, good squad player

and like i said if yossi was from argentina he would be worth at least 5 million more and everyone would be delighted we signed him

Malouda said that he didn't join LFC because only the manager wanted him.

As opposed to Chavsea where the manager, director of football, assistant pitch manager, owner, kit man, tea boy, groundsman and the kid working in their club megastore wanted him.

If its all true ill be quite happy with this transfer! Proven in the prem and all that :censored:. Cheap and wants to come here.

Babel aswell? know he is young and plays in Holland? Heard some stuff about Babel, exciting prospect apparently.

anyway this is Yossi's thread. Happy about the transfer, will fit in nicely. Good bit of business.

whether or not you think benayoun is the type of quality we need to sign you must agree with this

better than zenden.....YES
better than gonzo.....yes

better value for money that some of the joke signings this week

Diomansy kamara (couldnt hit a barn door in the premiership) for 6 million
the unproven italian to man city 9 million
jason koumas. (was found wanting in the prem last time).....5.6 million
