might go with a midfield of Gerrard Mascherano Alonso and Kewell when we come back.  Possibly our 4 best "footballers" in the midfield position.  I hope Kewell doesn;t get injured playing for australia and that Alonso will be ready to go by the 24th

Thats certainly the best midfield line up we can put out in my opinion as well mate.

There's no question that if you can stomach the idea of Gerrard playing on the right (which I must be honest I can without any problem), then if Alonso and masherano can build on their promising performance together against Arsenal, that would be my first choice too.

I could not agree with you more.

Although I do feel that Babel is getting better and better, I feel that Kewell should regularly fill the LM spot and Benayoun should regularly fill the RM spot, with Babel switching in for Benayoun sometimes.

We could go with the Italian 4 3 3 where you have two midfielders and a winger and then a free roaming attacking midfielder and Yossi would fit the roaming midfielder roll quite nicely.

                  Reina
Arbeloa   Carra   Agger   Aurelio

            Mascherano/Lucas

   Gerrard/Pennant         Kewell/Alonso

                 Benayoun

          Torres/Kuyt  Crouch/Babel

Or that could be disaterous in the premiership but its a way of getting all our best players, who work well together, in the team and keeping it attacking constantly while at the same time having some width and defence.

yossi is a good player with that little burst of pace and the quick legs of his with  fake shots which he has shown against wigan and beskitas and also a bit of it against fulham . He not only creates goals but scores also and that is better compared to pennant who is better in trickery but is not a good finisher .. stick yossi on the right till alonso comes back and that would at least get his confidence up and wat a cheap and good buy yossi has been ... 5 million .. a bargain ..

We never get a break do we ? Just when benayoun is in his "liverpool form of his life" he is out for 3 weeks....

He will miss newcastle, porto and bolton matches.....

Looks like gerrard is gonna go right again.

Yossi Benayoun will miss Israel's Euro 2008 qualifier with Russia after being ruled out for three weeks by Liverpool.

The midfielder suffered an adductor tear during Liverpool's 2-0 Premier League win over Fulham on Saturday.

He featured for the full 90 minutes at Anfield, but Reds boss Rafa Benitez admitted after the game that Benayoun was 'very, very doubtful' for his country.

The club have confirmed that the summer signing from West Ham United will miss the next three weeks, forcing him out of next Saturday's game with Russia.

Benayoun's club colleagues Steven Gerrard and Peter Crouch had been hoping he could have a decisive role in helping Israel secure a result against Russia, which would boost England's Euro 2008 qualification hopes.

In addition to sitting out international action, Benayoun is also likely to miss the league game against Newcastle United and UEFA Champions League encounter with Porto later this month.

Like I said before, we (Israel) can win without him... don't worry... :;):

If Israel don't get a draw, I'm sure Andorra will :D   And even if Russia somehow survive those trips, the Three Lions can still be in with a chance if the Macedonians take care of the Croats at home, but they would have to win 2-0, and they would take it on Goal difference which is like the 7th tiebreaker  :p

I hope Russia win. Not that Manhattan has anything against Israeli football, but the prospect of Steve McClaren getting fired is just too funny.

Liverpool midfielder Yossi Benayoun has added to the growing uncertainty at the club by admitting he does not know if he has a future at Anfield.

Speculation has long linked manager Rafael Benitez with Juventus and the Reds boss refused to clarify his own future after Sunday's final home match of the season, a 2-0 defeat to leaders Chelsea.

Benitez, who only signed a new five-year deal 14 months ago, has tied a number of players to long-term deals, but Benayoun is not one of them and he was linked with a move away in January.

The Israeli would like to finish his career at Anfield but accepts the final decision may not be his.

"It's very difficult to speak now about next season," said Benayoun.

"We don't know what changes there will be [in the] players, the staff so I think it's too early to speak.

"I don't know personally even if I will be here or I will not be here.

"A lot of things can happen, so we have to wait and see."

Uncertainty at boardroom level - co-owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett have put the club up for sale - is filtering down through Benitez to the players.

"Liverpool is a great club and I enjoy it but a lot of things are happening in this moment," added Benayoun.

"If it depended on me, I would stay here and retire in Liverpool.

"The fans are the best in the world but it depends on a lot of things. It will be very clear soon."

Hes  better than average but doesnt do enough.
He must be one of the four or five that need replacing then?

Good lad Benayoun, always runs his heart out and is one of the few fair players left at the top level. I have a lot of respect for him but I dont think he is out of the top drawer ability wise.
